There's a small music Festival going on this week at Maverick's. I only really know Most Serene Republic (one of my favourites) but it was $18 for the three nights - thursday, friday and saturday - so I didn't hesitate to pick up a festival pass.
If anyone is interested in coming out to any of these, they're trivially cheap and there's bound to be some quality acts here. I found the list of bands from two years ago (http://www.iheartmusic.net/serendipity/index.php?/archives/1222-iheartmusic-festival-2008.html) and there are a lot of bands there that really got some popularity* in the last two years, so it's likely there are some good undiscovered bands here.
If this show sounds cool to you, you'll know someone there. Right now I'm going without anyone, so if you all call me an indie hipster music snob and don't attend, I'm not really any worse off.
the site is http://www.iheartmusic.net/
with the show lineup here: http://www.iheartmusic.net/tickets.html
* relative to the Canadian music scene that doesn't include Nickelback, Avril or Celine
