I think that's the idea. The peripherals stay laggy but the focus takes priority. Not a bad concept.

how to hell would you be able to understand anything over the mic with 1000 ppl talking lol...

Mic's could be set up in channels, like in vent, or they could be AoE, so you only hear the people near you. like IRL.

so wait, 4 or 5 targets is best, yet they plan on having hundreds of people in a server? gg

Yes, well I can already see a quite blatant flaw in their heuristics. If a large number of people start focusing on one person, that one person may overflow and lag out. gg high scorers! Hope they know what they're doing... :P

See, the flaw with that Null is that it would take hundreds of people actually attacking that players, the server is responsible for duplicating the reports to the focused clients, so unless there is a packet that needs to be sent to the player, they should be fine, and I'm sure they'd have an overflow strategy to compensate for that kind of a situation.

I suppose so. I forgot to take into account that he was trying to simplify it.

*bash head into keyboard*

Though, the same circumstance could also have the reverse effect of overflowing the single client with the info of the many. I mean, I most definitely -would- like to know when someone intends to attack me. I suppose it's unlikely that enough people would attempt it at the same time, though. Would probably mean doom for the single person in most circumstances, anyhow.

I think I'll just shut up, smile, and nod, as I can't find any reading material on it at the moment.

Arg. Pay attention. The CSS bit is just wishful thinking, and used to pique your interest. :P
