Evidence?

I'll watched the first 40 minutes, then had to go do something for about 15 minutes when the third period started.
I came back to the TV and was WTF?!

That's one fucking epic choke.

That's one fucking epic choke.

Now all these young Russians can drop their KHL agreements and sign bigger NHL deals, play for a few years, and then stop scoring goals altogether.

Yeah, that was quite a turn-around. Russia looked kind of lethargic for the first two periods. They didn't even look like they belonged in the same tournament. Then they just sort of flipped a switch in the third. Sort of reminds me of the 2001(?) World Junior, when Fleury was in net the first time. Canada looked like they were dominating and in the third suddenly Russia turned it around and won it.

The goalie didn't play particularly well. None of the goals were horrible embarrassments, but when you have a 3-0 lead, you need your goalie to come up with a big save once in a while. He didn't make one big save the entire game.

But, Canada just wasn't a very good team. They were a bunch of grinders. They could dominate along the boards, and force pucks to the net, and eventually bang one in. But they didn't have the skill to work the middle of the ice. In the third, once Russia started attacking and using the middle of the ice, Canada had no answer.

canada had zero presence in the 3rd, no hits, no big plays, nothing. they just stood around with the puck in their skates

"Omg the other team can score too? wtf do we do?"

That pretty much sums it up. When they were up 3-0 the guys I was watching it with were all worked up and thinking it was going to happen and I said "it ain't over til it's over".
