Selling...

Bought two, one is still shrinkwrapped in a drawer. Rather someone get some use out of it than have it collect dust.

SOLD

Copy of receipt can be provided.

I really want to get an SSD, especially since the clicking and clunking sounds coming from my hard drive are telling me I'll have to buy a new drive soon. But I still think they're way too expensive. The 64GB ones are still usually over $100, and involve rebates. I've even seen some of the really old 30GB-40GB ones being advertised as on sale for over $80. I'm disappointed that the older generation SSDs really haven't dropped much in price.

Until they start shipping 1TB SSDs for less than what one of my kidneys would cost to replace, I can't see myself bothering. But this is a good deal still from Wesley.

even a 60GB is very worthwhile in a desktop (or laptop with 2 hard drive bays).
install OS on SSD, install games and bigger apps on HDD (I keep browser and common use stuff on SSD too). Windows is much snapier and more responsive in day to day use.

This topic has reminded me to install my own ocz vertex3 ssd in my laptop, been putting that off for weeks.

My computer loads so much freaking faster with my SSD.

So.. I install my above mentioned vertex3, install win7, ok. Install a bunch of drivers. Join domain, reboot. Win7 hangs on bootup. Reboot, windows now back to finishing install again? All drivers and apps gone from previous boot, back to fresh install.

Freaky... trying again..

Thanks. If it was that price without a rebate, I'd probably bite on it. The prices do seem to be getting there.

NCIX has a refurb Corsair Force 60GB for $70 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=61604&vpn=CSSD%2DF60GB2%2FRF2&manufacture=Corsair&promoid=1343). I was considering that, but it only has a 30-day warranty. If I wasn't poor I'd take the risk. Although, with refurbished SSDs I'm not sure what type of risk there would be. From what I've read, the whole thing about SSDs reaching their end of life from too many writes is quite a bit overblown so you wouldn't have to worry much about it being used previously. Chances are someone just bricked it with a firmware update, and then it was fixed.
