I'll be playing outdoors paintball in gatineau this weekend... should be fun. The only problems I have is that it's slower than CSS (rounds are 25 minutes) and the bullets don't go straight!
Next year, I'll invest in a paintball gun that shoots straight (the rented ones suck).
Who knows of good paintball guns?

I've been out of the paintball scene for a while but when I was in Tippman was a really good brand.

tippmann ftmfw!
i have a Tippmann A5 - stock it can shoot 17 rounds / second with the cyclone loader it comes with, NIS3R has a Tippmann 98 custom (or 1 of his friends does) and some sort of pistol (i forget that 1...).
Tippmann is the best of the mid range paintball markers (or so im told). u definately get what u pay for.

for scenario paintball you will probably want an EGO

depends what kinda paintball youre into...
if youre a speedball player with cash to burn, go with the angel and a hopper that can keep up with it. if you dont have cash to burn, your best bet is the ion. good gun out of the box, but can be a bitch if you dunno what youre doing (in terms of stripping it and adjusting air pressure).
if youre into scenerio and want a gun you can throw off a building and have it still shoot, get a tippmann 98C. but make sure you get a longer barrel as the stock 7.5 inch is inaccurate after 1 foot... 12 or 14 work well. if you have a bit more money you can go with the a5, again by tippmann. solid gun, had some problems with its 'cyclone' system, but its been out for so long im sure thats been fixed.

oh ya, the cyclone loader has been fixed.. mines never jammed or chopped balls no matter what i've done with it.

yea, figured it was fine by now. not so long ago they had some problems with it, think one of the springs or something was too weak so most people had to replace with a better one after a short while.
btw if you get a tippmann, you need to get an RT (response trigger) as well.

my E-TRIGGER works just fine... dont feel the need to get a RT just yet...

I'll only be playing scenario, in the woods and mok cities / fortress.
My important criteria is straight shooting. I don't really care to shoot 20 balls per second! I figure, 5bps is good enough, make them count.

Thats what I like to hear, Spray and Pray is for Video Games !

i <3 the additional speed for scenario, i fire in 3 round bursts typically but when the need arises and u end up in close quarters that spray and pray tactic is a god send ^.^
i ended up unloading about 100 balls in a few seconds blanketing 13 or so people crouched down about to attempt flanking us... smoked them alllllll - emptied my hopper on them and walked off the field, i was done for the day lol too bad NIS3R wasnt there to join in the spraying of the 13.. he was off else where

so you were firing at about 25bps with a tippy? i see...

very possible with a few mods. saw a guy with a modded tippmann that was shooting at 30pbs. he used co2 though so at that pace it froze the line. lol.
eyemaster:
get a tippmann. 98 custom is good, just need to get an RT a 12 or 14 inch barrel and a hopper that feeds it properly. gravity fed hoppers suck. if you go with the A5 its about the same as the 98 but with a feed system thats pretty cool and doesnt require batteries.
silence:
etrigger ftl. prefer RT over it.

lol 1 of my buddies friends has a tippmann firing @ over 25/sec w/ compressed air
hell the a5 alone starts @ 17/sec and 1 guy upgraded his son's A5 for 25/sec with 3 or 4 parts
lefty...
RT = $$$
E-TRIGGER = came with the gun =p

I was looking more like the A5... But apparently Spyder has good guns as well.

spyder is ment for speed ball if i remember correctly... they should also be more expensive as they r a higher end gun
someone please correct me if im wrong

Spyders are for speedball, but are not an expensive gun, they typically range $300 here. Thats nothing really when you think about it. If you get into Shockers and DM7s then your talking about a couple thousand, even Angels are expensive. I'd still say use a Spyder, cheap, good, effective, great for begineers and experienced ballers.
Edit: Eye, assuming you live in or around the Ottawa area, I'd say go to JTs, its right down Merivale rd past the mall at Colonnade rd. Best Paintball store intown prolly, he'll sell you a good kit there for cheap, and he'll let you try most of the guns out (not shooting) and give you a great overview and review.

droopy why would he buy a speed ball gun for scenario? - that's pointless... ur such an easy target with those flashy guns that r meant for short range and shooting fast...

Wasn't reading the whole topic, my bad, just went off what you said. Woodsball/scenario is a whole new game, I have a Genesis Surge II for that, but a Tippman is great, A5 specifically, especially with all the mods.

Well, today was a blast, I got to tag a few...
The guns they loan at Tactik Paintball are Tippman Custom 98. I don't like them. However someone lent me something weird, which was nicer. The owner of the place showed me his sniper A7, and it looked sweet. It was dressed up lots, not what I wanna do. I wanna spend little money and get something good and reliable, no gimmics. After playing today, I have a better idea of what I really want.
Anyway, it's nice to play CSS in real life! much more excersise, although expensive. Cost me 140$ for the day!

yea, paintball is a pricey sport. kinda why i quit.
but the tippmann they rent vs the tippmann you own is very different. they dont take care of them and have been used 5000 times.
if you want a reliable gun, the 98 is your best gun. it is the ak47 of paintball guns. making it accurate is easy, making it shoot faster is easy as well.
the a5 is great as well, just not the biggest fan of the cyclone system as its massive.
/where did you go?

y would u keep such a short barrel?
-i say 12" minimum...
besides, my mess looks like some futuristic ion gun or something LOL - it's actually REALLY tempted to burn $450 on those parts but im sure i could find em cheaper around here and i actually have no clue what they would do to the preformance of the gun, the only real thing that will affect anything with the performance would be the barrel.. big whoop, accuracy but no range extra range =(
