Hello all, I've been preparing to get a new computer in November and I wanted some imput here

As I've given away my old Socket A system (good riddence) I'll need to completely start from scratch. Current prices and products make it pretty easy to pick out what I'd like

Q6600 for the CPU - Around $300
2gig of random RAM - Around $120
a 320gig HD (Cause I don't need much more than that currently) - Around $100
an 8800GS (leaning more towards the 640mb) Around $350
Antec 900 - Around $100
PSU, DVDRW etc etc - Around $140 (PSU at $100, dvdrw at $40)
22 inch lcd - Around $300
Mobo - Around $170

As for mobo, I'm not too sure. I'd love to get an eVGA, but boards like the P5K-E are well stocked for a good price. Certain Gigabyte boards are within my price range and are reviewed as good Overclockers, but overclocking is way out of my knowledge base. Help here would be really appreciated.

Overall I'm hoping to stay around $1500, although this current total is around $1600

I would be willing to spring for a new 9800 (the nvidia kind) if it was released in time and was somewhat near $400

Even though you've all been poor about helping me out, I'm going to fill you in on what i've been thinking.

The great thing about this sale is that Shipping is free for the whole bundle, that means i'm only paying GST and insurance additionally, for a total of $999.67

As I was saying earlier, I wasn't planning on getting a computer till November, but this free shipping deal is good. Additionally, a lot of these other prices are pretty good too.

I have a nice monitor at home I can use, so the only thing left to get would be a video card.

The XFX 8800 GTS 320 is $259 http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=22629&vpn=PVT80GGHD4&manufacture=XFX&promoid=1025

The eVGA 8800 GTS 640 is $349
http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=21406&vpn=640-P2-N821-AR&manufacture=eVGA&promoid=1025

I heard rumours of an 8800 refresh on the way end of the month, anyone think it's worth the wait?

EDIT [} The XFX card looks pretty solid. It's factory OC'd, which saves me the worry, and it only raises the price to $1307 (need to find a $30 product I guess). Guess all these parts are useless unless I have the whole thing, so it doesn't make sense to buy piecemeal.

The sale ends tuesday it seems

ADDITIONAL ISSUE! I only have $1000 of credit!!!

That's the way to garner assistance... (I keep out of these discussions, as everybody has an opinion, and a difference of opinion as well, so I'm much better as a casual bystander.)

Looks like a good PC Mike.
Keep in mind that if the prices look good now, they almost always look better later ;)

Yeah, that's my concern, that things'll drop

Really though, we're talking about a couple weeks

that XFX is a steal mike, do it. Factory OC'd 8800's are the way to do it.

good call chris, warranty's something else I need to look into

I get a $50 rebate from having that case and PSU, so that's nice.

add on :: that xfx warranty is pure awesome!

Ok, so here's what I'm looking at getting tomorrow unless someone thinks of a reason for me to hold off (although my dad did try)

I started writing it up, but picture is easier.

I'm getting $90 back from rebates hopefully (from PSU, RAM and GPU).

You'll notice the RAM has leds on it, I'm hoping for a nice diskotek effect. Oh, and I likely won't end up with that HD, as the sale ended 6 minutes ago. I'll likely get a cheaper/smaller one, as I have a lot of DVDs to burn up excess storage needs.
