Hey guys,

We've decided against the IBM eServer 326 that we were going to get. Instead we are going to get something that'll allow us to grow at the rate that we think we're going to need to grow.

We're going to get a SuperMicro SuperServer 6015T-TB (http://www.supermicro.com/products/system/1U/6015/SYS-6015T-TV.cfm) instead. The new server will be sporting two quad core Xeon processors, 4GB of fully buffered DDR2 667, and a 150GB Raptor hard drive. Special thanks to fly (http://www.northernresistance.com/forum/member.php?u=192) for making me aware of this server.

This server alone has almost double the power of our current server but it still has something up it's sleeve. We will be able to host two dedicated servers in the space that one usually takes. This leads to lower monthly costs when we need to expand again. The next time we need a new server all we'll have to do is buy some RAM, a hard drive, and a processor and we're off!

With this change will come an IP change for all of our public servers as well. Our new IP's will be announced shortly. The IP change will be devastating for us at first because we will need to rebuild our player base so we're asking that everyone does their best to make sure everyone knows about the change.

ouch... playerbase will be crippled !!

Mano i say you rename the server like 2 weeks prior to change and have the new name set to something like:

"CHANGING IP !! NEW IP ############"

Most people will be joining out of their fav's or history anyways so it wont make too much of a difference but might help bridge the gap.

Also, i finally actually checked out that link... those are pimp servers with teh thin mobo's. Thats so leet how it only takes up 2 slots for 2 PC's!

We'll be selling our current server to go towards this new one.

We coulddddddddd reset the stats but we can also keep them the way they are.
Sounds good man. Look forward to it. The sooner we can get that new server off the ground the better!

Selling the old Server?

What an original idea!

Add On:: $370 left, that's really close!

If I get much gift money for graduating this weekend I'll see if I can throw some in.

I wasnt sure if you would be able to, just checking. Id vote for not resetting them as they were just done not too long ago, only like 4 months or so? anyways looks like that server will be paid for soon!

I am enticed by the thought that after the servers IPs change, I should be able to get connected with less of a wait. XD

I suggest you add the "NEW IP Nov 7 IPADDRESSHERE" message in the server name. That should help people get the message if they're too blind to see it constantly popping up while playing :)

Oh yeah, nice choice on the server. Save some $ and not have to deal with the IBM console cables (unless you already had them, I learned the hard way once).
