Besides all the bugs, how are you guys liking the new server. Is anyone noticing increased/decreased choke/ping? Lets hear it!

Server is pretty nice. My score is definatly better there than on the previous server.

There are problems tho:
Between rounds, it will sometimes freeze. (you know already)
Sometimes, when there are many people in an area, the lag will be worse than I've ever seen. 80fps drops to 20.
The admin menu needs to be rebooted from time to time. I wanted to slay and I couldnt' because after picking slay or burn, no names would appear. Where is the Ban menu? I needed to ban and couldn't. I tried the command line, but it said the user id was invalid.

what else?

I have to say that I'm very impressed with our IP change so far. I thought that it would be a while until the servers got populated again but all of them were full last night. Good work guys!

Its because of all the talk i've been giving when no one else is around lol.. Kinda makes me want to be like.. a devout NR person.. rather than a community member lol...

i told u mano that it wouldnt take long to fill up.. actually had to use my reserve slot today.. and worked perfectly lol. I still see lag issues... and like whats been said its worse when theres a few ppl in close proximity. Other than that i like it.... if the lag goes away then its much better than the old server

could it be that we're exceeding our throughput for our internet connection, cause alot of people were facing some fairly high choke last night...

Probably not. We're on a 100Mbit line.
Choke can only be attributed to the server when people have their rates set properly. There isn't some sort of magic rate that everyone can use that'll be chokeless. You need to tweakish it. Mind you, I still need to tweak the server for the new ISP so that could be it too.

Snap, the server seems more than capable. Though today people were getting 1-2 second lag spikes on CSS#1, this was around 6pm. Everyone was getting them at the same which makes me think it was server-side.

Those spikes could have been:


Server performance : I'll check the logs tomorrow
A setting I was trying out : communicates with our website for dynamic settings
Our ISP : something happend lol


Let me know if it happens anymore tonight. I got rid of #2
