Who would like to see one of the TF2 servers converted to a 32 man server?
Keep in mind that the reason why VALVe has limited the slots to 24 is because of the fact that the game tends to crash more on computers that don't perform as well when there are more than 24 slots.

I say keep as is.. makes it a bit more team orienated with 10 per side.. rather than 16 where they can "zerg" rush with scouts.. that will be harsh on basically anything but 2fort lol

What tick rate are the servers running at? I hear a 100 tick is not nearly as important in TF2 as it is in the much more precise CSS.
Either way I voted no. I much rather see 3 smaller servers, with one running 24/7 dustbowl/gravelpit :D

they are running default tickrate (which I thinks is 33). I agree. It isn't as important as it is in CS.
I'd say stick with the smaller servers, if you're looking for a great community the smaller servers will really help that thrive. (vote for 24 dustbowl/gravelpit tho :D)

Even though I haven't played the game, I do know that larger player limits have a tendency to be more epic
That is if the map has room for it. 32 player office sucks, 32 player Empires is sweet

Having played on 32 man servers, scout rushes are easily stopped with any good pyro and maybe an engineer (pew pew sentry). Having been the only scout on many occasions on granary, I can say that it doesn't matter how many scouts you have - I alone ran up the round score to 13 - 0. I also killed the server :(
The great thing about TF2 is that it remains fairly balanced at any player count. Imbalanced skill is the greater cause of one sided games.
IMO, throw up a 3rd server (with that fancy new hardware :D ) that's 32-man dustbowl only. Dustbowl is GREAT with the mayhem that is 32 players. I would stop playing Crysis for dustbowl only :3
Could you also at least bump up the ticrate to 66? I admit it doesn't need to be 100, but 66 makes the world run better for a few buddies of mine from out west who play here :D

I say you make a third TF2 server running 24/7 dustbowl/gravelpit. Dustbowl gameplay is so awesome it pains me when I am not playing it :D
The NR TF2 servers are so damn hot they will draw much more people into the community, and therefore make it easier to get a 2nd CSS server.

I think 20 is a solid number... 32 sounds like it would be way overcrowded. Class rushes would start getting an FPS of 5 instead of 10 :P.
A lot of the TF2 maps, though definitely large, are filled up by 10 per side... imagine the mayhem of 16 vs 16 in capture vs. defend (and i don't mean FUN mayhem lol)

Dustbowl only >=( IMO it's the only map worth playing and big enough to handle 32 players :D I'd hit it up for sure on the weekend with a few buddies of mine.

screw the 3rd all together, IF you insist on keeping it up, put mentions of it and the IP in the other 2 servers, then people playing on them will move over to play on them since it would be a 3rd NR server.

I voted yes on the 32 player server, and like alot of you said, it would be good for certain maps. I've been trying to convince mano to try new maps though as there are maps out there that would be great for 32 players. I mean, it's a test server, why not actually TEST things :p
edit: I also thought of the Fast download thingie. Have a third server passworded, have to users join the forums, download/install the maps, then give out the password to the server. More members, new maps, no fast download required.

I totally agree with the dustbowl it is an amazing map and gravepit is pretty fun as well but 32 player dustbowl is just well AMAZING. It becomes total chaos and everyone has a blast in it. For all of you that are having doubts about the 32 player server go and try a 32 player server and then come back and post about your adventure. The Team Fortress series is supposed to based around chaos and destruction; however that being said if you do 32 players you have to do class restrictions because when you turn a corner and there are like 8 sentry guns your not going anywhere fast.

Mmmh.... I think 20 man servers are good. After 10 players TF2 becomes hectic (in the unfun way) anyone who's somewhat new gets crushed constantly in 16v16. And the level of spam becomes unbearable. With 10 players you usually get a good balance of classes and gameplay.

I got to play, so it was fun. There are a lot of times where it feels like there's not enough people, other times where we're all croweded into one death hallway.
I don't really know the game well enough to comment though

me and rez played last night, the server was full till 4:00AM your time. It was nuts.
Only wierd thing i found is that when connecting i get a STREAM of duplicating packets being ignored for like close to a minute straight. my net graph gets like 14,000 IN its totally messed up. But then after a while it just clicks on and its fine. I have no idea what it is but it only happens on the 32 slot.
If i try recording a demo, it goes back into this duplicate packet thing for a minute.

I experienced lag in my first couple minutes of connection time as well.
I'll be pulling the server logs tomorrow morning to see if it's server-side or maybe if it's something that TF2 clients have trouble handling.

I find that once there is a map change at about 4 to 5am the server goes from about 30 players to about 16, but people are still there playing which is a lot better than our other server do at that time of night. The server is a lot of fun, and I have actually won a game on there which was very surprising considering that it is near impossible to get across the bridge with 15 people sitting on the other side of it.

the problem is at 4-5 am, the one or two good players scare off the little nubbies and there's no one to repopulate it.
like when you club 10 people with a wrench in a row <_<

Personally, for most maps I've found 24 people servers are a good number that balance the best between all maps. I think it would be cool if the player limit could change depending on map, although that would piss some people off. For example, 2Fort with 10 players a side is good. Any more than that and its an automatic stalemate (or sudden death win). For maps like granary and hydro, I think it would be cool with up to 26-28 players total ... and up to 30 for gravelpit and dustbowl.
Just my opinion. I'm sure many would disagree.

We're going to keep all of our current TF2 servers up. So we do have a 32 player alternative for those who want it :)

yea id say raise it to 30 cause it makes the map more chalenging and u can have more members join then less slots...:))
