Nice site mano. congrats.

my first post on the new forum will ask this:

i've had mIRC before with an old community but I don't really know the advantages to it. can someone give me some insight?

mIRC vs. no mIRC, or mIRC vs. other IRC clients?

I use Chatzilla, it works pretty well.

I used it basically for chat. is it good for anything else?

Check your mem-usage in task manager after 2-3 hours, it leaks memory going from about 4mb to 110mb after the suggested time interval... mIRC never leaks memory, varies between 3.8 and 4.8 mb, never seen it go higher.

Regarding the question

The answer is more or less no, mIRC is basically used for chat and file sharing.

The real thread was moved to the Hardware section. What you saw was a redirect that's going to stay in the old section for a set amount of time so people that were used to seeing it in the other section aren't all like...wtf where did it go?

Orion: That's firefox more than Chatzilla, and yeah it does use a ton of RAM, but it's inconsiquential as I always have Firefox open. You can change your RAM usage by adjusting the cache size. My cache at 100mb right now and firefox + chatzilla are only using 90mb.

Mirc is too lame for me

() Rly? 'cause the statement I made was for just Chatzilla and CS:S being open, no web browser, but i would have thought that cache would default to page file... :/

When I just have chatzilla open, it is really a RAM hog, using ~40mb (after around 8 hours of being open though) That's not too bad really, and it helps firefox open up much quicker after I finish gaming.

Hm, Firefox is only using 66mb now with 5 tabs, that's pretty low. Maybe the new patch fixed some holes?
