In case you haven't played it: the original Elder Scrolls game that started it all

Free download (approx. 8MB)
You'll probably need a DOS emulator to play it, but it's free and fun :)
Enjoy!

About the most open ended RPG you can play on a videogame system.
I played Daggerfall (the sequel) for years and never got more than 25% done the main quest lol.

Ftw.
But yeah I attempted to play this onetime and failed.
Though I'm a big fan of the series.
Daggerfall, morrowind and oblivion were all for massive win.

Oh man, memories. You get to walk in this game forever, worse then WoW (World of Walking). It's a hell of a game if you're into open ended epics, but without a FAQ you're screwed. Reminds me of the Wizardry series, only with better graphics (hehe, if you can call it that).
