Had Orange Box for a few weeks and been getting good experience getting killed a lot. Try to play on NR servers when I can tho I think some new maps might be in order. ;) I miss Toronto!

Where: Halifax.
What: Navy.
Types: Heavy and Soldier. Sometimes Scout and Medic.
Playing State: Usually some degree of drunk. I think it helps me aim better.

Anyways. :) Got some new kit so if people have seen me aboard the past few evenings doing weird stuff, I blame it on inferior kit. If they see me doing weird things now, I blame it on beer. ;)

what kind of kit did you get!?
Welcome to the site man!
Custom maps is a possibility for an upcoming TF2 server. Keep your eyes peeled ;)

Toshiba A200-TJ7. Dual core Centrino 1.66GHz, 250gb HD, 2gb RAM, 128mb M-Radeon HD2400 (and I can snatch enough system RAM to top it up to 1gb if I likes.)

Compared to the old P4 1.6, GeForce FX5500/128 with 768mb RAM. =)

High five!

(I'm big on laptops. I have a Macbook but something bad happened to it when it was in my backpack and I slipped on ice and fell backwards. So I got a halfway decent gaming laptop instead, and I'll get the Mac repaired later. Which means next time I go sailing I'll have the Macbook to lug into port and the Toshiba to use for multiplayer FPS in the cave. =P)

What rank are you? I tried to get into the Navy during University. I wanted to be an officer (navigation)....didn't get it so I never joined. I do have a little Naval history in my family. My Grandfather was a Commander. Commander of the HMCS Haida, one of the former HMCS Ottawa and HMCS St. Croix. I also lived in Dartmouth for 5 years as a kid. Probably one of my favorite places to live.

I was going to say Dartmouth isn't a patch on Halifax, but then I until recently lived just outside of downtown Hali and now I live in an elderly suburb of Dartmouth; a far cry from being able to walk to Mooseheads games and all the good pubs. =P So really it's apples to oranges.

I'm an able seaman, should be getting my killicks before next August. I'd never go officer. The stress to perks ratio isn't worth it. =P Besides, it's expected for NCM sailors to get roaring drunk in foreign ports and do crazy shit, which gives the entire ship fodder to talk about and you had a good time really so who cares, it makes a good story. ;)

The best one I have is on my first European port, Brest, France. A bunch of us navcomms went on the town first night in and got royally ripped. Half of us could speak passable French so we were chatting it up with the locals. One sourpuss-lookin twat offers me some apparently traditional French challenge. It had a proper name but I can't remember what it was called. It involved drinking a pint of half beer, half red wine. You were required to chug this concoction, and if you succeeded they gave you another pint with more red wine and less beer.

I made it halfway through pint #3 before I had to stop. I was already on a quite excellent drunk, tho. It seems to be a French test of ... I dunno, being able to not throw up. I'm still not sure if I won or not.

The kicker is the next morning I was feeling off, so got some water and C-plus into me. Then we had a hands fall in on the flight deck so the commodore could give us a pep-rally speech. It was a bit cool but there was a tarp over the flight deck. So wouldn't you know, the heat starts getting to me. I made it to about five minutes left in the man's speech before I couldn't take it anymore. I spun and performed two giant pukes onto the flight deck. C-plus coloured.

Former Iroquois personnel still tell that story with relish, usually with the embellishment of me heaving all over the commodore's shoes.

And no shit, the CO of the Haida. =D That's fuckin cool.

That is correct. I've been on it once when it was at Ontario Place and mt grandfather went to Hamilton for the ceremony when it was moved there a few years back. Unfortunately he passed away in 2004 but I still have a lot of great stories that he told me about his naval service.
