So yea, I noticed that my transfer speeds were incredibly slow yesterday afternoon, but thought it was an issue on my end... I was .... WRONG!
Found this out the hard way... basically of which included Orion telling me to call the ISP and see if it was routing issues. (Umm.. uninstalled WoW for a bit anyways... ... Addiction = rough times, especially during exams.)
So, I call Cogeco (my current isp) to find out whats going on... Apparently they have severe networking issues on their end that are reducing transmission speeds down to 25% of their normal in certain areas... According to their Customer Service Reps, this issue is to be resolved as of "late afternoon, early evening on the date of December 12th, 2007". Hope they are right this time...
Oh well, thought I would give you the heads up to anyone else with this ISP... not too sure if it is affecting Rogers or Shaw companies as well.
Happy Holidays,

I'm with Cogeco.. It's been up and down for me the past month.. I've bitched a couple of times so next month is free! I did switch my modem. Helped a little. But I think that was only becasue my cable modem was 10 years old

Have Cogeco at home and at work.
At work, insane slow today. At home last night, noticed pings were super high on the TNR servers but thought it was cause there was high traffic/6 diff games running now. Maybe it was just Cogeco?

I wish I could get Cogeco in Ottawa... I hate Rogers! Their connection is shitass and too expensive for the speed.

don't bitch and whine about Rogers, I've been around north america a bit recently and the ONLY better ISP i've seen is Shaw in Richmond, BC. my aunt was paying US$60 for 3M/386k with comcast. and they don't even GET that speed. and that's actually a GOOD price in the states. I pay $60 for 6/1 (and actually getting 8 down that i can visibly see is getting throttled since my downloads start out at nearly 12 down). Call rogers and ask how many clients are on your node, my one friend has the worst, with just over 100 on his node (nodes are rated for 200 users). In Greenville, North Carolina, one of it's area has 400 on a single node. FOUR HUNDRED USERS on nodes rated for two hundred. imagine the shit they have to put up with.
sure the customer service sucks, but thank god you don't have to call them often.
and of course, there's australia, just beginning to move out of the 56k age.

On the other hand, of course theres Paris, where GIGABIT direct to home fibre, TV and Phone are all for $150CAD/month. :D

Try S.Korea, where the government recently ran fiber to EVERY SINGLE HOME in Seoul and is offering it for nearly free. :3

Cogeco will have many issues well into the new year unfortunately. I work for Rogers at head office in Brampton and we are converting all of their main switch sites as we arent carrying their service anymore. A quick fix would be call them and tell them you would like your account refreshed and a new ip assigned to your account. That will put you on the new platform (if they do it).

PC Bangs (pronounced "bongs") in Korea are aaaawesome. I got in trouble for staying too long in one with my homestay on a trip there... it was worth it. They have a bunch of high end games available only in Korea (they require Korean ID#s) and the food is more than impecable... and cheap :)

Okay, well umm.. when that time comes, ill just say you sent me, and get bitched out by Cogeco.. cuz apparently Rogers and Bell are hated by these northern people.. (Back home.. for the most part they are generally well liked... not loved lol.
But yea... Hopefully It wont be so bad up here in North Bay... but i guess it all depends on what pathing routes i am being sent through.. :S
Thx Syn

NP Agent. The other thing we caught wind of today with Cogeco is they are being a bit disrupted due to a quarrel with Google now. Apparently Cogeco decided it would be cool that if a Cogeco subscriber was to near or exceed his download rights they would script in a toggle bar at the top of the google home page warning you of the status of your downloading. I guess the word is that that really set google off as they are basically recoding elements of the google page with their own little branding which is EXTREMELY illegal. That mustered up with Tedd Rogers and his bone head millionare ideas have put Cogeco behind the ball lately. BUT if all goes well Cogeco in the northern parts of Ontario will dominate Rogers users with a really nice pipeline thats if Cogeco lands their little secret weapon from one of the other providers in Canada. Hang in there it will get better. Its just corporate politics is all!!

I'm pretty certain it was Rogers inserting those warnings into the google pages.
