View Full Version : TF2 Balance?

I have noticed lately that if some of the regulars (say in the top 25-40 hlstatsx) are on, they seem to be bunched together only one side. I know people like to play together thats cool, but when the other side is a random PUG where is the fun in one side winning for 5-6 matches? Wouldn't it be more fun or challenging to balance the teams so that neither side has all the top players?

If there were a system available to balance the teams I would use it.
ETB works great on the CS:S pub

Something like that would be cool. I would think if the regulars see 5-6 players leave the other side every other match they might get the hint. I've been bouncing/leaving servers lately when I see this, it's not much fun winning or losing that way.

for now it's up to the regulars to move themselves to make the teams fair if they want a good game

I wonder in the whole losing Stats contributes to it?
I wonder people might have more fun/balance on stat free TNR server?

We've been through this in the team switching etiquette thread.
For the most part when joining I take a look at teams and go on the losing one (not that I'm going to turn the tide or anything) if possible. I'll also try to switch if its landslidish, but sometimes it just doesn't help.
I know that most of the dedicated medics on the server tend to balance themselves out. archivist and I rarely end up on the same team, although I think it's because we like to kill each other. Same with Xy and cjh, astronaut and the like.

4th best on the server, syringe gun and bonesaw king and the one medic you can't get unstuck or dead? Nah he's never EVER changed the tide...

the problem lies in that a few of us go on the public ventrillo channel, and its really no fun to be on vent and be on opposite teams and such, it kinda builds a sense of friendship and u want to play with the players you are talking to. Now this wouldnt be the case if 10-12 people were on vent, but its usually 5-6 people.
Just saying the top players find a closeness with the other tops and tend to come together

We needa start cracking whips! im not one for ventrilo anyways but if im ever on it i like being on the opposite team cause instead of writeing "you bugger" i can now tell them in vent ahahah.
But sure playing with whoever you have a closeness too is great and all, but when the call to split up arrives...its gotta be done for the sanctity of the server and better good!!!! like im usually on the opposite team of everyone and i still have fun shooting ya's cause atleast i know its takeing skill to kill you guys and its not just some sorta boring dominiation.
Y'know what i mean hah

I've been on vent with people complaining they went to the losing team and their stats were going to go down. Get over yourselves people

Oh noez, not the stats, not the precious perfect stats! Always amuses me, same with CS:S, is how players care more about stats, than having fun.

I've seen usually an even split between the people in the top 250 when joining dustbowl. However, the problem comes from people wanting to play a class that doesn't really help the teams make-up. For example, when you have 14 players, 4 are snipers, 3 are spies, 3 are pyros and the rest demo, and no one wants to play a medic, the game is over for your team. I've seen this happen on teams full of regulars. Then you have to 'command' people to switch classes, which obviously is not fun for those playing them. Some people are team players, most aren't.

PhD's don't get paid that well. I gotta make a living somehow.
I had fun on a server the other day during the downtime that made sudden death into melee only. So that was about 3 minutes of hilarity.
We've done the all melee before on granary, usually when things get so lopsided. So much fun.

Love the freakin servers where it's Melee only Sudden death, though.
Thos're hilarious.
I'll make my payments next time I'm IN K-town to see the sister/neices, or apply for yet another "Closer-to-home" on air gig...
Almost regretting not pushing harder for that new station there... had a great interview...
Meh.

Yeah, Melee only Sudden death is very funny.
There is also an Anti-Rape the losers after they lose mod when someone loses the game ends.

Is there no settings/mod out there that you can set that if one team gets like 5 caps in 10 minutes the map restarts.
The best antistack setup I've seen was on the speakeasy offensive back in cs where the map would change if one team won the first 7 rounds otherwise it was first to 12 and I believe you had to win by 2 which kept highly competative games going.

I started playing medic a lot in the last couple of weeks I guess because I seem to contribute more that way. So you wanna lend me $1000 and I'll take some lessons and get bettar?

Then I wouldn't make anything! I already have a job that does that!
