They added the maps cp_junction and ctf_mach3 to the CEVO map rotation. It would be pretty cool if we could get those in the server rotation here so I don't have to practice somewhere else :(

junction, eh? Only played that once, didn't seem to bad - mano, think you could throw these onto #2 for a test-drive? Maybe take out granary so the rotation isn't too long?

It would be nice if we could have a customs server here. 5-7 Maps voted by the TNR community, change em up every so often.

we had that, it was hated.
I think the way to do it is to release a new map on the forum a couple days ahead of the server, so that a bunch of people can download it quick, then through the maps in one at a time so people don't get overloaded.

We'll give the dang customs another shot I guess.
Before I bring up a new server though, the ones we have now need to demonstrate that they will fill no problem

Junction and Mach 3 are some of the best custom maps out there.
The problem with the old customs server is that there were just too many maps and it was pure customs.
If you add those into the normal map rotations with all the usuals it should be a lot better.
Or have a server that removes granary out of the rotation for one of these maps each time, like rk said.

i vote to add some custom maps mixed in with regular maps as well. playing the same official maps gets a bit old.

i think i like the look of junction however i'd like to play both. why not put one on each server or something?

Junction is a lot like gravelpit, but smaller.
Mach 3 is a CTF map, but smaller in scope in terms of a 'home base' than 2fort.
I tried to play convoy last night but before I could dl a map the server changed level

I like mach3 better, junction seems a bit cluttered.

Wow, that is totally a map taken right from UT2K4 (which was an amazing game, btw).
I don't think we need to necessarily take granary out, now that the 3-round-switch is in effect - the map never lasts that long anymore, no harm no foul. Oh, and btw mano, there's an error on one of the servers: instead of going to ctf_well, it does two rounds of 2fort. I think it was #2, but I'm not totally sure.

If you took out Granary AND CTF_Well on #2 and replaced it with both Junction and Mach that might be better balanced. In map terms.
Personally I hate how long CTF_well takes.

Actually it gets worse, apparently cevo made their own version of the maps. Here are the links for the cevo maps, if you'd like to change them again.

VERSION 4.0 CHANGES:
EXPLOIT FIX: Engineers can no longer build in their own resupply rooms behind the glass.
BUG FIX: Engineers can no longer build on the outside sewer elevator under certain conditions.
BUG FIX: Snipers can no longer see over the sewer rocks into the other team's stairs entrance, unbalancing the outside.

I got a chance to play on the #2 server when it switched to mach4, only problem was the server didn't allow me to download the map even if my local settings were configured to allow me to do so. This probably is one of the reasons why the custom maps don't do too well... people don't feel like going out on the internet to find the files.

Thats the truth. The cevo map is a bit different than mach 4 (more accesible areas for snipers), less detail, and some other minor things but for some reason always leads the server to crash about halfway through it.
Still haven't played Junction on the servers yet. I love that map.

I'd double check your settings.
First thing I do whenever I upload a new map is connect myself and make sure it downloads. I've actually done this twice with this map :P

I just double checked my settings - a security setting kicked in on the web server for some reason. It should be good to go now hopefully

Mach4 has quickly become one of my faves (not that there's many to chose from). It's one of those maps you only have to play once to learn. Love it!
