Hey, guys. I've been playing with you for a little while now, and figured it was about time to introduce myself.
I've been into computer games since Wolfenstein 3D, and I loved the original Team Fortress. I was playing on a 28.8 modem back then, which meant I wasn't really much good for anything that required timing, so I played medic because it seemed like the best way to help out.
Then I got sidetracked into MMORPGs, then I got distracted by school, then I didn't have a computer capable of running anything modern... so, despite my fond memories of the original game, I didn't pick up TF2 until ten days ago. I currently play medic about 98% of the time, because it's still the most familiar class to me, and they're even more useful now than they used to be. (And not many people seem to play them, even though they can make such a difference).
I'm currently attending Laurentian University up in Sudbury, in the final year of an English/sociology double major. It is terribly dull; the English has all but destroyed my love of literature, while the sociology is making me cynical and bitter about the structure of our world. But, only two and a half more months to go!
... Then I am doing a master's degree, because I am a masochist.
Anyway, it's a great community you guys have here - lots of organization going on in-game, people using voice chat, some good-natured teasing, and remarkably few idiots. I'll stick around for a while, if that's OK with all of you. There's still a lot I don't know about the game, but I'm looking forward to learning more.
Finally, the name's Kate. That's not a nick, nor is it Kat, or Kato, or some other variant. Just Kate. I know most people don't use their real name, but I'm used to it by this point.
