Err, I guess I wasn't so clear, or maybe I haven't seen it in CS2 yet.

image size is typically determined by the file type u save it as... .gif and .jpg r the smallest types i know of.
im personally a fan of GIMP when it comes to graphics design (open source ftw!)

But there are tools that allow you to compress the size.

Yeah, virtually any format compresses images Grem, u silly man-slut.
Download GIMP, open up your image- save as - adjust quality settings/filetype and save.
Try saving in .jpg, .png, .gif. Sometimes one of the three will produce better results for the filesize (usually jpg tho).
Follow greens instructions for Photoshop. Gimp is free though, keep that in mind.

if your image is using few colors, like for example some sort of animation without much shading or a simple screenshot of these forums, use the .gif extention and it will cut down your filesize a lot while maintaing perfect image quality.
what a .gif does is save 256 colors that are most commonly used in the image and save it using those. for 90% of ur situations thats all you need. and theres no jpg distortion
