I am pondering on which cpu to get. both same price(roughly) Willing to spend that extra 15 bucks on the xeon if it is worth it. I just want to know which one is better to get in the long run. Keep in mind i do know that the e8400 is OEM which i have already bought a new heatsink anyway. Also I'm planning on overclocking the cpu to about 3.5-3.6 ghz.
Your input is greatly appreciated.

I have been told to have a server processor you need a good mobo. That is the mobo i have.

Unless you want to squeeze every last drop out of it - go with the E8400. They're the exact same chip although the Xeons are higher-binned. However, just because they are doesn't necessarily mean they will always overclock better. 3.5-3.6 is pretty much a moderate overclock so you're fine with the reg one. Just my thoughts.

You could be cool though and just get the Xeon for the heck of it though...haha.

Since both are in stock I'd go for the 8400... like Deathsniper said

and I have the same MB as you... Ctrl-F1 for advanced overclock options in BIOS and don't forget to adjust memory multiplier when overclocking ;)

I'd do whichever is cheaper, or in stock if similar price. They are the same chip basically.

Every Wolfdale I've tested hits 3.6 GHz on barely any voltage increase (usually I can leave it at stock).
