does anyone know if this useful or possible without malfunction?

what do you mean stacking?

a fan moves a given volume of air per second, if you put 2 identical fans blowing through each other, they will still move the same amount of air. if you put them next to each other though, they're move that given volume each

was just curious as ive heard people talk about it before, i think it would make a difference seeing as if the fan behind it were blowing at 30cfm or whatever then thats how fast the air would be going into the fan up front blowing it out faster... was just a thought

Wise has it right, tho it is *possible* to stack fans reducing the amount of load on one and *potentially* reducing the amount of noise created, worked for me with a set of 8cm's a while ago, but @ 120mm yu shudn't have alot of noise issues

i find that my 120 doesnt spin very fast... when u put ur hand behind it, it barely feels like its pushing any air compared to my 80's

that's odd because you can really feel that my 120 is moving over 3x as much air as my 80s... O.o

you need to get the Vantec Tornados
They have good air flow

Yeah I'm looking at it right now lol
It's a piece of shit. It'll come in handy one day with one of my kooky ideas.

The area of air hittin your hand at 120 is larger than the 80, so you'll feel less of it. It doesn't mean that it doesn't move more air. best thing would be to have 2 x 120 runing in series, so 1/2 the speed, but being side by side. that way they turn slower and move lots of air, less noise.

and by series you mean parallel

I think he means in geosynchronous series parallel.

9/10 pc's will do smexily on 2 120mm's (not in series or ||) just put one at the front and one at the back, if you're really gung-ho go as far as to add a PCI slot EXHAUST fan (not like the Vantec card blowers, but a U-shaped fan that sucks from top/bottom and discharges out the back) and a 5.25" Drive bay fan
eg. 120mm

The idea is to establish 2 parallel streams of air moving directly through your case. Adding more fans can prove useful but putting 2 fans directly in series is less effective that putting one at the front, one at the back, and putting resistors on them (http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=Resistors&product=2719003) to reduce noise.

The absolute most important things to remember when designing you case's airflow are front-to-back, bottom-to-top, left-to-right, heat lives in vacuums so try to avoid creating any.

P.S. and freon > water > air

ive got a Vantec Spectrum Card, it works wonders, took 15C off my idle temp for GPU and like 20 under load if not more

True, but roughly 6x the amount of air being moved.

Yeah, but all it's doing is spot-cooling, they work fine if and only if you have a setup that is already cycling enough air through it. It is far more important to make sure that you are getting fresh air into the pc, then it is to make sure that the air is going onto on specific spot. Though spot-cooling is very useful once you have the proper environment. Just ask my GPU.

my pc is practically silent, i have every single case fan going through a control first where i have a knob on the front of my case, so i can turn down teh speeds of all the fans, i only turn it up to regular when i play CSS. The Vantec Spectrum card also has an adjustable setting on it and i can turn that down to low as well.
