Don't know if many of you are into electronic music but I thought I'd make a post for it. WEMF (World Electronic Music Festival) is held somewhere in the outskirts of Toronto (venue hasn't been released yet). There are 3 main stages (4-4, bassline and hardcore) and there are numerous renegade stages (people set them up on their own). Last year i nearly spent as much time at the renegade stages as i did the main ones. Lots of djs to keep you dancin all night long! (On the Friday, main stages stop around 1 or 2am... but on the Saturday it's all night baby!)
Here's a quote from http://www.wemf.com :
Once again we invite you to join us one last time as we celebrate the largest and longest running festival of its kind in Canada, The World Electronic Music Festival. As with everything in life, change is constant and WEMF is not immune. The “3-Day” has become a right of passage for generations of electronic music fans and this year it both celebrates its 14th year and its final year in its present form. As always, WEMF will bring you everything you need for an absolutely amazing weekend. With a rich variety of music and art from around the world, WEMF is an experience that is unique and enduring for all those that have made it part of their lives. We encourage you to allow this experience to become part of your life before its too late!
In 2008 we are bringing back the classic WEMF format with a completely outdoor experience, literally in the middle of nowhere! Lose yourself in a vibrant mixture of sound and nature where your mind can rush to the beat of the drum and the glow of the moon. Camping, dancing, enjoying the company of friends and the music that brings us all together is what you will experience when you join our family.
History is about to be made one more time – don’t miss this life changing experience for anything!
The dj line-up has been released (check the website). I know 20 people making the trip from Quebec City and Montreal for this awesome event. I hope to see some of you there! :))

I just got you post Xy....Posted May 19th and no reply from anybody?!?! WTF!
Are we the only ones to love electronic music here??? I'm on vacation in Ecuador at this moment. Otherwise, I would be there! For those who live in Toronto you really have to go there: it's gonna be CRAZZZYYYY !!!
If you have never been able to appreciate electronic music, it's a chance for you to have an expert like XY to initiate yourself to this world! Don't miss that chance :P

Oh I would luv to go myself seeing how it is the last one, I always thought about going back in high school. Like PhilouFelin said, if like you electronic music, you really should try to make it out. I've always heard this is one event you won't forget.
Had to reply to show some luv and thanks for the notice :), cause there's still some time for me to try and pull some strings and get some other ppl to go.

It's usually at Orangeville, ain't it?
I've always wanted to go and I've had a chance to go for free because a friend of mine used to DJ there. Now that he's got a real job, he hasn't gone back in 2 years.
I'd still love to go, though.
**Auto-merged Double Post**
Quick double post. Why is it ending?

It's like 6-7 hours for those of us driving from Quebec City... last year it was in Welland near Niagara Falls... that was 11-12 hours of driving for us and it was still well worth it! :))

lol every WEMF is the last WEMF. I went 2 years ago - greatest weekend of my life, just totally amazing. I'll go check the line up. In case ungst and kura read this - madawaska is like 30 min from the cottage we stayed at 2 weeks ago :D
its only like a 4-5 hour drive from TO. (about standard wemf driving distance)
ADD ON ::
the line up isn't that impressive this year - i can recognize like 3-4 names off the 4-4 stage and thats it =\
also if you're going be prepared to wait in the MOTHER of all line-ups and search downs to get into the park - we're talking like 5 hours singlefile cars lol. you're car will be stripped down and searched as well, when i went we tried sneaking a few things in and they found it all. They also found shit we didnt even know we had and confiscated a hammer and some other things lol

If you get there early the lineup isn't that long. If they don't find anything during a quick search they won't do a thorough search. Expect a search similar to border crossings (can be thorough, can be quick)... Just make sure you don't bring any glass items or any weapons... look on the damndjs.com forums for more details on what not to bring (I'm at work right now and they are blocked off for some reason so I can't link to the post).
Yeah, the lineup doesn't seem to be as impressive as some other years but there are lots of great djs nonetheless.
Lots for the Drum 'n Bass lovers : Andy C (3 hour set on 3 turntables), Teebee, Hive, Linx, Marcus Intalex, etc... (+many D'n'B/jungle renegade stages)
On the 4x4 stage there's Christopher Lawrence, Max Graham , Chris Liberator (saw him last week... awesome acid!), Mark EG (what a show this guy is!), Anabolic Frolic (Happy Hardcore.. on 4x4 stage?!?), Madame Zu, etc...
Contrary to what Phil said, I'm no expert... lol... but there are a lot of good djs and a lot of renegade stages for u to find something you like at any time during the weekend! :))
And for this being the last Wemf... the last few years they said it might be the last, this year they are saying its the last. Now I'm hearing it's the last in its current form. I think they have trouble finding places to do the event at since most places its been held at won't accept us again! ;) Who knows what Destiny will offer next year... but I have a feeling this will be the last of the 3-day events.
Are you considering attending this summer?!

Sorry Homeboy! This takes up my whole week-end. I take the Friday off and we leave very early Friday morning (like 4am) and spend the whole week-end partying there. I will try to go down to Toronto sometime at the end of June (possibly during the last week) and we can get drunk then. (I'll make a separate post when I figure out when I can go to TO).
