Another disappointing season for leaf fans.

It was a great season for Sens fans, because once again the Leafs didn't make the playoffs.

And for all you that are gunna crack comments about how the Leafs always beat the Sens in the playoffs or w/e, you do know that you have to make the playoffs to do that so I guess you will all have to wait untill next season to give it another go.

So good luck to all you Leaf fans in the hope of building another under performing team that will once again just fall short of the playoffs.

GO SENS GO!!

The leafs you mean the loafs. They used to go out and buy talent but with the salary cap they can't. They tried to buy talent this year by getting Peca but couldn't afford much afterwards. He gets injured there goes the roster/season.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you are a leaf's fan and agree with anything that says "Thank you to this loss." or "They're better off."

Go cheer for Buff or New Jersey, they could use a few more on their band wagon.

Disappointing season? They played, they lost. There's next season. And if they lose again, the season after that.

See unlike most other fans out there, we don't get down on our team when they don't win.....you know....next season not show up, make the team almost go bankrupt.....

Kindly go fuck yourselves, it's called sportsmanship, learn it.

Is the air thin up there on your high horse Tyler? :)

I for one am glad that neither Mtl or Tor made the playoffs. Mostly because of the media attention those two teams generate. It's great to be behind your favorite sports team, but both french and english media over do the coverage and basicly saturates the public with "in-depth analysis" of a game, team, player, coach or the freaking GM. Playoff coverage for hockey is the only sport that i can't stand, followed closely by baseball. For some reason i find that the Ottawa media is a little more slack about playoff coverage than the Toronto or Montreal media.

Oh and don't give me that "they're canadian teams" bullshit, i won't buy it.
btw, GO SENS GO!

I thought the leafs put in a good effort towards the end at least. Just a shame we lost to NY cause we coulda put it away.

sens are the worst playoff team ever.

once fageson is gone and leafs get a good GM that will actually spend money on good players and the sens still have playoff retard alfredson...toronto will make you eat your words.

ADDON: oh i forgot to mention. you know that guy they call crosby..dunno if you've heard of him...but you should know and be scared that you will be losing to him very soon.

At the age of shit I can't even remember I wore a Leafs shirt, like my brother before me. And as far as we see it Toronto weather the worse team in the league, or the best team in the division have more heart than ANY and I mean ANY team in the NHL. With such devoted fans it's hard not to. But when people berrate, bash, and slam the leafs JUST to get a response from the Fans it pisses me off to no ends. Sure when it's Team vs Team shit talk all you want, but unless you're a new york islander's fan kindly STFU!

K thanks bye....

For any of you who watched the ny/nj game tonight

the devils obviously threw that game. So in my mind the leafs should be in the playoffs,

like the devils got what? 15 shots on goal? you watch the playoffs, theyll have atleast 40-50 something was up that wasnt the devils playing.

Out of the teams in,

im with nj this year.

Well i wasnt counting what happened in the last .9 seconds.
and like 17 of those shots, were "wide" theres no way that was the devils.

I am not a Leaf fan but

The leafs screwed them self when they lost that game to Buffalo.
The one were they were winning 4 - 1 and lost it in the 3rd

And the Sens will not make it past the Penguins

no. shots are shots, NJ shots are no different from NY shots. and im pretty sure they count the whole game

those are the game stats. you want to argue with stats, go for it, but thats what they are, and they are not changing because you didnt see it.

sportsnet agrees with that shot count too, and im 99% sure shots in hockey are measured in shots thats go on net, not that go wide.

A shot only counts if it can go in (ie the goalie has to make a save or it's in).
I can see where this is going around in a circle. So here's how I see it.

1. The leafs don't draft well; buying talent leads to a lack of depth under the new rules. Two or three injuries later the line up is pretty soft.
2. NYI has played very well of late and should not be under estimated if you are a Sabers fan.
3. The Sens have had a history of playoff disappointment. However, they always did well in the regular season and never experience adversity and couldn't cope with when it counted. They sucked up until the break, came together as a team and have played well since. I would not bet on them choking this year.

I'm going to call the east like this

Buffalo v. New York I - if NYI steals on of the first two in Buffalo then we've got the making of an upset. NYI is playing well and have found ways to win without a goalie and physical play.

New Jersey v. Tampa Bay- The Devils play very deffenesively they have depth and goal tending and should come out on top. I don't think the high powered TB offense will be able to solve Brodeur.

Atlanta v. New York R- I'd go with New York if Jagar and Shanahan both play well. They have a great supporting cast; Atlanta is coached very well but inexperienced. If Atlanta does win it will be a blow out because the Rangers superior line up didn't come to play.

Ottawa v. Pittsburgh- Ottawa is a different team this year in that they've addressed goal tending issues that have haunted them. They've also not been the high power team of past that's choked in the post season this year. I think they are in a better spot as a team going in this year. Pittsburgh has a young team with Sid the Kid but they've brought in some vets for guidance. Fleur has to be good between the pipes because when Ottawa gets to a goalie they do it in the most sever fashion possible. I'll have to go with Ottawa in 7 because of the way they've been able to find wins when their goal scorers have not been at there best.

I've got to hit the books

Kindly go fuck yourselves, it's called sportsmanship, learn it.

I dunno where your getting your information from, but if you continue to read these forums and toronto forums you get a lot of people complaining about the leafs when they don't win, but who cares they are called sports fans.

I also don't see a need to go and graon at everyone who disagreed with your point of view. People have different opions and that is life.

On another note, just becase here in Ottawa we don't have the population and same number of business's as in Toronto doesn't mean we are not supporting our team. Sure our team might have almost gone bankrupt but did it go anywhere...... no, we are still here and getting more support than ever.

I got a question for ya "How many games do you got to in a year to support your team?"

And when you said
Kindly go fuck yourselves, it's called sportsmanship, learn it. where exactly am I supposed to find the smortsmanship in there?

I am a SENS fan and I will deffend my team because I despise the Leafs, but I am not about to tell someone that they are a fucking idiot because they like a team I don't, these are what make rivalries and what makes the game so much more enjoyable when the two teams play each other, even if Ottawa does win every time :p

As long as Dubie holds the fort in the NYI net (as he's been doing), Buffalo needs to be careful. The Islanders have more scoring up front than you think, and they've got a few guys that really play with heart. Keep in mind, Ted Nolan would LOVE to knock Buffalo out first round, and you can count on guys like Ryan Smyth to do absolutely everything they can to do that for their coach.

chris, i disagree with what you said about ottawa finally addressing their goaltending issues. It's more a case of a goalie stepping it up in a big opportunity. Addressing a goalie issue means drafting a very high ranked goalie and bringing him up through the system (like Fleury, Miller, Lehtonen) OR signing a solid number 1 goalie (liek the Flyers FINALLY did with getting marty biron). Ottawa THOUGHT they were signing a top notch starter in Gerber, but luckily for them Emery stepped up and bailed them out.

chris
April 10th, 2007, 06:43 AM
Gerber has his confidence and has played well when call upon. Gerber has his confidence back but he doesn't have the team's confidence. If shit hits the fan in goal I think Gerber will pleasantly surprise everyone. The team hasn’t let him prove himself and they need to take a chance on him.

Considering the amount of money that most of these big babies get paid, they should be playing hockey at supersonic speed and landing AT LEAST a hatrick per player each game.
Bunch of pussies.
TO did try though near the end, more than what I can say for some other teams.

What a game last night (Dallas vs Vancouver), went to the 4th overtime with like just over a minute left before someone scored. Was a long one but was well worth the time spent watching it.

who remembers the cup back when Dallas won it... wasn't that 4th OT? or was it 3rd...

Xzinum
April 13th, 2007, 09:58 AM
3rd OT, 57:34 mins of overtime play to be exact. The one i remember the most was The Ducks vs The Stars in '03 with 80:48 mins of OT play.
