New feature: Jump to Top

Hey Mano,

I have this idea for a new feature on the forums. For us with non-n00b thread views (40 posts per page), would it be possible to add a little arrow in the post bit to have it jump to the top? I know we have it at the very bottom of the page, but i'm talking about evert posts

The reason i'm asking is when i'm reading a thread with 38 posts for example, i have to scroll all the way to the top to click on the New Posts link at the very top. By having a little arrow on every posts, i could just click it and jump to the beginning of the page.

I think it's as easy as adding a little link with #top at the end of the url.

What do you think?

That'd be a good idea, but you can actually hit the Home button to do that.

Not quite, if i hit F5 on a URL such as this (http://www.northernresistance.com/forum/showthread.php?p=61439#post61439) it does not do what i want to have added.

yes but he told you to hit the Home button not F5

Home button is usually above the arrow keys, by insert/delete/pageup/pagedown.

Quite, but it's used for telnet in a mainframe as well, home is mapped as F5.

If F5 is labeled home, then you need to press the "F-lock" or "function" button to switch it to the secondary function.

funny story.. me pressing HOME button does not send me to the top of the thread
AND me pressing F5 reloads the page (yes) but returns me to where i was already viewing...

so this doesnt work for everyone ;)

Not exactly what i had in mind. Something a little less conspicuous, like a little ^ as a link next to the Post #.

this is 100% more work than just pressing the HOME key or a "to the top button" on the forums... why should u push 2 keys when i only have to push 1 if the button is added? ^.^

If we wanna get technical, and it sounds like you do... the Home KEY is between the Insert and Page Up keys. The Home BUTTON is in it in your browser and has a picture of a house in it.
