Anyone seeing this shit? Fucking tragic. This is one of those situations that makes me so angry. Can you imagine going to classes and some lunatic shows up and starts to open fire on you? Just plain wrong.

They're saying at least 22 dead, 20 more injured.

Absolutely Tragic.

31. but 'safe' really is a relative term, there are millions of things that could kill you anywhere. Statistically you're more likely to die in a car then a school shooting, so maybe people should stop worrying about how safe they are and start worrying about how satisfied they are with their lives up to this point. But yes, this is fucking tragic and my heart goes out to the victims and their families, it's a shame something like this happened.

only reason things like this happen is because ppl shun other people out of groups or ridicule the person to this extreme point. It is a tragedy to see that at least 33 people have been killed today but the fact is, this goes on everyday around the world not much we could do

8 years ago this week was columbine shooting so it could be very likely that it is related to this shooting.

nothing will ever happen to stop these. soon there will be a security guard in each classroom before metal detectors are installed at the doors.

does that make sence?

Wow, now they're saying that the descriptions of the shooter in the morning and the one 2 hours later don't match.

Believe it or not in public school that was me(Getting picked on), so I pride myself on sticking up/helping people for people in those situations.

The sad part is it takes something like this for someone to say something.....

It is a tragic thing when one person is compelled to take another's life. There are no excuses......at all.

I heard he may have had a fight with his girlfriend and lost it. Love/obsession and alienation/bullying seem to be common triggers in these situations.

This guy was also known by police, and had undergone assessment within a medical institution. If everyone took the evident signs seriously, 9 times out of 10 this shit could be prevented.

Its terrible to think that even in this day and age, we put the safety of our children - the future, in jeopardy and at risk, because we refuse to spend the money required to install appropriate security measures within our educational facilities.

The world needs a reality check.

Terrible. People need to look at the problems inside before they they blame others. If we all would just ask ourselves why we are angry, and seek help, then this shit wouldn't happen. The kid obviously needed help, why wasn't he aided?

Yeah, there's always someone who tries to blame the violent games! Bastards...

These school shootings aren't exactly few and far apart... They really need to get rid of the freedom to own a weapon down there. There's too many irresponsible people down there who shouldn't even touch a butter knife. Then again, there is here in Canada too, but when's the last time we had a school shooting? :P

So yeah... Anyone know when the NRA gun rally's going to be hitting Virginia?

For a a deranged depressed loner on his last nerve a college or school is the only place of choice proven to bring them the attenion (although negative its still attention) and recognition they desire through mass media...

its the only place in the country to be the ultamate wolf among sheep... to finally be the one in control as its was more than likely classmates at one point in their lives who made their life so miserable..... armed security would would make them think twice for sure and its beyond me why they arent armed....

In the future , a student may end up choosing their post seconday educations based on how good the schools security is and not the academics....

kudos to the brave teacher who died blocking the door with his body wow so heroic...

... Gun laws don't stop criminals, especially ones planning to kill themselves post-haste. I was pretty sure someone already stated as much in this thread. In any case, it's more of a population and mentality thing, in the states there's more people so they subsequently have a higher chance of getting 'bad apples' and those bad apples have an easier job of doing more damage.
