I'm getting Teksavvy service and I need a modem. Wes, if you're still selling yours I'll get it I guess.

Yar.. so I'm about to sign up for teksavvy at my apartment and was wondering if I should order their modem or buy one somewhere else? If so which model and where from? Thanks :]

Please tell me "LTB" isn't "Like To Buy". You don't get to make up acronyms. (I said as I SQTM.) My recommendation is to check on E-Bay/Kijiji/Craigslist. That's where I've bought all of the three I've ever owned, and they've all worked like a charm.

I wrote this on my phone back when I didn't have internet (hence, why I needed the modem). Thanks.
I got this model http://canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=019709&cid=NTW.896
and it is pretty solid. It'll save you some money buying this instead of from teksavvy, but there are other cheaper ones available at CC that I have no experience with

Any modems with dsl or dsl2+ technology will do. Just don't get any alcatel. Try to get a speedstream if you can, a 5200 or a 5242(same model different name), since it has a firmware built into it. I'm pretty sure you can find one for less then 50$, they are really cheap now. I would send one (I've got 3 at home) but I can't find them since I moved back home.

I bought the
SpeedTouch 585
(Modem/4 ports/Wireless)
* Purchase for $130
I'm willing to get rid of it for fifty bucks. I switched to Rogers because BELL SUCKED MY BITTORRENTS and I got half price Rogers Bill. (For working for Rogers)

I gotta ask what you're paying. (Just to make me mad, of course.) I'm on DSL but I'm too far from the demarc point, so it's slower than normal.

Heck of a deal on that 585. I bought my 516 for that much. :|

On a slightly unrelated note.. I was looking at routers for tomato and I couldn't decide which one to get.. I'm assuming there's no N routers compatible with tomato? Otherwise I had my eye on the WRT54GL. Input?

I pay 50 plus 12.50 each month for 25 down 1 up.
(100 plus 25 overage fees) / 2 for being awesome.
Oh wai, I split with roommate. So I pay 32 something.
