tf2turbo has a lot of movement upgrade, and the youtube video in that link demonstrates some of them

can we get a server that runs this? i think itd be a really neat plugin to run, as it would add another layer of depth to this game :))

LOL... I thought it was just movement speed and gravity adjusted... there's actually some mechanics changes when you scroll down. Looks interesting.

Eh... They had altered the physics engine so that people couldn't abuse bunny-hopping in the first place. I think it's too easily abused, and ruins some of the balance in TF2. Being able to move up onto a point too quickly just fucks defensive attempts once the primary wall's broken. Without going into further annoying little details, *thumbs down*. :/

What a terrible looking mod.

The engineer becomes a useless player in the game if scouts can outrun sentries, heavies can jump over huge barriers, and pyros can fly around maps and avoid choke points.

TNR can do whatever they want with their servers, but I would definitely avoid playing on a server with that mod.

Oh man this looks too intense for me.

I'd have a seizure, wake up and think I was playing quaketf/tfc

Do you have any idea how retarded that is?

All's you do it fly around the map all day. That's SO fun.

I like how scouts can outrun sentrys, though. That's something that should've always been possible. Maybe it'll be an achievement, like a speed boost for a short duration to make it past them.

engineer in a pub is already useless.

most people that play on pubs arent skilled enough to utilize something like this, therefore, only some people (ie, skilled players) would be able to do this

if a pyro is flying at that speed, and you cant hit him with a projectile because he's in the air, then go play tr_airshot_v0 for a little.

I played a server with this mod on this morning and it was pretty fun.

It was difficult to tell how gameplay would be because the only server that is running the mod is based somewhere in the UK, so my ping was over 120. At that ping the stutter issue makes aiming while bunny hopping pretty tough.

The pyro also flies pretty slow, and so aiming wouldnt be that tough.

We needs to have a local server to get a low ping to avoid the stutter issue, and see for realz how this works.

I've been on servers with this before..

They usually also usually have techno music playing, mario_kart, 9 year olds, jetpack console commands, and ballons fly out of you when you die :)

I just associate this plugin with terribad - might be interesting to try it with our talented players - but I think it's such a break from realism that it just ruins things.

Also, instant respawn = fail.

thats bad servers, tnr regulars dont do that, so its not really something to worry about.

I still fail to understand why any server would ever want to play music. Ever. o.O; The quality is almost always complete crap, and anyone that actually wants to hear music while playing would just run a lite program a la winamp, or some such.

obviously tnr wouldnt run a server like that, so its all good

as for concerns about balance, the things done in that video are high level moves, regular pub players dont pull that stuff off, and for someone who can do that, they are rewarded appropriately. doesnt mess up balance at all, it just gives good players another layer of depth in their game. Also, the instant respawn could probably be fixed

Interesting. Can't say I've played on a server with this mod. Reminds me of Warsow's movement, which is analogous to various iterations of the Quake engine and such.

I'm mediocre at regular TF2 movement as is... I think this'd be fun for a lark, and it'd be even better if we had a few rather skilled players teach the rest of us how to actually pull off the basics (let alone the more complex stuff).

Also, wouldn't the skilled players already wreck players on pubs? So this would just be another order of magnitude of difficulty, meaning that new players would be even further steamrolled...

It's a skill, just like aiming. Because someone else is better than you at it means you don't like it? And please dont say it's an EXPLOIT... I hate when people say that. It's using jumping and strafing and turning. They can limit speeds of those if they really wanted to.

Also, the instant respawn could probably be fixed

instant respawn was how it was back in the goooood ol days of QWTF!!!

For me, such mods are fun for a short while, then quickly get old.

I believe the term is "novelty."

I'd definitely agree with this. It does look like it could be fun, for sure. But since this isn't how TF2 is meant to be played (and some of it is even prohibited, as Null pointed out), it probably wouldn't be as good as a game such as TFC or Quake, where this stuff is all possible without crazy mods.

I have a Turbo TF2 server in my favorite, it's very usefull to do some achievements. However, each time I played Turbo TF2 it was so boring...never seen that before in any game!

This is not only the gravity and similar things that have been changed. They altered the core engine to modify the game in many other ways. For example, you produce a lot of damage with any class, as soon as you start doing damage you get many hundred of heal points, your gun has unlimited ammo, etc.

Anyway, this mod is usefull to do achievements such as "heal 1 000 000 hp", "produce 1 000 000 damage as pyro", etc. Looking at my stats, you can see that my "most points" in a round is 1311 with a medics, which is (we all agree) just impossible!

I'm sure the novelty of this would wear off pretty quickly

my issue is with the scout being able to go only an extra 60% faster with bunny hopping, while everyone else can go that same speed if they rocket jump/sticky jump and bunny hop. What happened to mah speed advantage good sir?

I'd like to try it though... but I probably would never play scout on it.

Yeah, I have a 600+ point round as pyro...

So is there any way to reset your class stats? Maybe not on a class by class basis, but I'd like to keep my unlocks but reset my point caps...?

<shrugs>

I just really wanted the pyro unlocks after not playing for a month and a half since I wanted to see if they'd actually fixed the class for every loadout they added. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's gotten unlocks for the sake of curiousity. Some of the achievements are unlikely to come up in regular play and just piss off teammates anyway (i.e. taunting with an uber to provide a freezecam shot of a dead guy, etc.)

TF2Turbo seems like alot of fun actually, once you get the hang of bunny hopping and what not. Could be entertaining.
Arena + tf2turbo anyone? =D

What if it was admin enableable? Server 5 is just normal Arena TF2 till people are on it and are like "YEAH, LETS DO TURBO!" Then the admin can just turn it on.
