I removed the poll because clearly you kids don't deserve nice things :P
Hearing some rumblings about a couple of the moves we made, so I thought I'd start a thread! Here's the rotation as it stands now:
SERVER #2 - Custom Rotation
1 - cp_gravelpit - mp_winlimit 9, mp_timelimit 35
2 - cp_badlands - mp_winlimit 5, mp_timelimit 30
3 - cp_freight_b3 - mp_winlimit 5, mp_timelimit 30 ** - is being added shortly
4 - cp_pro_granary - mp_winlimit 5, mp_timelimit 30
5 - cp_broma - mp_winlimit 5, mp_timelimit 30
6 - pl_badwater - mp_winlimit 8, mp_timelimit 25
7 - cp_fastlane - mp_winlimit 5, mp_timelimit 30
8 - cp_stag - mp_winlimit 5, mp_timelimit 30
cp_stag - http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/52321
cp_broma - http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/53436
cp_freight_b3 - http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/59565

If we do indeed drop cp_stag, do we have suggestions for a replacement? cp_steel? ctf_turbine? cp_fallout? cp_junction? Other customs, that we might want to give a shot? As much as this rotation is "pro", it's really also a community-directed server. #1, #3 and #4 are gonna stay the same no matter what, but I'd like #2 to have as much community imput as possible.

when was this change implemented? i dont really play much tf2, but rk keep in mind if it wasn't a 100% vote for the rotation you ended up with, there will always be people upset with some of the maps. Give it some time, and check server stats to see which maps cause population drops, things like that. My opinion =)

cp_fallout might actually be a workable map, you never know

it was i. i took full advantage of the multi vote... figure it cancels itself out at the end of the day anyways.

I've briefly played freight and I liked it.
As I said in the other thread, stag is pretty terrible.
pro_granary I'd give more time. A lot of times custom maps clear out servers a bit. If it keeps up, then go back to regular granary.
Anyone like ctf_chaos? Quickly skimming over the custom maps I have I remember that one being decent. And we don't have any ctf maps on this server.

i haven't yet played cp_stag in a pub setting yet, not sure how it plays out.
As for cp_fallout i think the craptastic textures of mid(although pretty) are resource hogs and will hinder both the servers performance as well as the gen pops. Although i think it could be a fun map to play with 24 players.
CTF_Chaos is an intel map, we're looking to vito the ctf maps as much as possible. k thanx.
As much as i hate cp_junction it could be fun in a pub setting, like a miny gpit. Plenty of opportunity for utility classes(engie, spy, sniper) and pro pyros. Could very well be a good time.

dave, cp_junction is too small for 24 people. especially with the fact that half of pubbers enjoy going engineer cause its easily the best strategy in the world.

My map opinions for #2:
I didn't care for cp_broma but am willing to give it time... I didn't like cp_steel at first, either. cp_broma seems well-designed, at any rate.
cp_stag isn't that great - it feels very tangled and cluttered. It has the air of being user-created, i.e. unprofessional and not taking every aspect of the game into account.
I am eager to try out cp_freight_b3; it looks quite interesting. We'll see how it pans out.
cp_junction seems like a bad idea, from what I've seen in CEVO matches. Too crowded for a pub.
Is the only difference between granary and pro_granary the setup time? If so, I think I like the instant start better.
If you were to do a straight swap for cp_stag, my recommendation would be cp_steel.
I really think cp_badlands has got to go. I hate, hate, HATE it, and have seen others complaining about it as well. However, it's not really a server-emptier, so I might just be talking out of my ass.
Now, out of curiosity, what is the mission statement for #2? Community favourites? Whatever we're in the mood for?
Edit: I don't think we should switch the server up instantly - let more people get a feel for the current rotation while we discuss it further.

Ditch stag. The fact that respawn is under points 2/4 is failure to the max.

- No, changes won't be instant or even in the near future, just trying to get a reading ;) This thread will be up for a while, I guess the real mistake was adding a poll right away (not that it matters, I dropped it because clearly I need to make a non-multi poll :P).
- Chances are cp_badlands isn't going anywhere, it's pretty popular.
- The difference between pro_granary and granary are the setup time/gates.

Dude... your poll offsets the main page when it's randomly chosen to be displayed there.

I don't like cp_stag at all... I've played it a few times and I just join the team that's clearly going to rickroll the other one just to get it over with.
Maybe it's different with less people, but it feels way too claustrophobic, and the spawn point locations really suck IMO. It just seems like a clusterfuck all around?
I can't say I've played cp_broma yet, so I'll have to give that a swing some time.
I have no idea as to what I'd suggest in its place. Of course Dave needs a pro pyro map, so don't disappoint!

Man, looks like rk is more awesome than great!
Anyway, if you're like me and on a random pub, when you see a bunch of shit starting to download you will start mashing the "cancel" button. Most user maps I've played out and about in TF2 suck animal gentalia (but there are obviously exceptions). In addition, there are people who don't like downloading things in general. So, it may not be that the non-regulars don't like the map, they may just not want to even try it. People enjoy the familiar; it's why 24/7 servers do so well.

Just to put my $0.02 in, I really dislike Broma. While it's a nice looking map, I would disagree that it's well designed. Point B is really rather my evidence in this. Who thought that was a good idea? My team from last night can probably concur.

Broma is a good map, well designed & thought out. You just have to learn how to play it, as it's opposite to gravelpit, where you'd ditch defending B for the most part, and defend A.
Like all new maps, it takes some time getting used to, but I like having another gravelpit style map.
Badlands is totally fine in the rotation, as most people will stick around to play it.
Stag has to go. While I'd like to see cp_freight take it's place, I'd be fine with whatever gets voted in.

- Fixed poll, sorry about that.. although what a great publicity stunt :P
- cp_freight's gonna go in no matter what, it's already got a slot, so really this is a thread about what to replace cp_stag with.
- I understand your point McPwned, but if no one bothers to download the maps that I've linked at every opportunity, then personally I don't give a hoot what they think :)

As long as Stag's out, I'm happy. Damned thing brings me back to my q2dm days. *shudder* A time best not revisited.
As for Broma, I've only played it once, and the layout is... well, fucked up. Not really a complaint so much as an observation.

McPwned's point about custom stuff on servers is a good one. Like I sort of mentioned in my previous post, custom maps can clear out servers pretty quickly. I'll often quit a server immediately when I start having to download extra crap.
As for Badlands, I think it's possibly the most enjoyable map in the game.

But that, in part, is the point of #2 - a process to skim through a selection of customs in an effort to find good ones.

By no means am I suggesting that we not have customs - just that we should be prepared for non-regulars to leave regardless of the quality of the map.

cp_shock/cp_fallout are both beastly pub maps just because theyre so open, i think theyd both be good for server #2, the only downside is the fps lag that comes associated with these maps.

Pro_granery is nice. I like not having those start-up gates anymore.
Broma is an interesting map. It’s smaller than gravelpit, and I have yet to play it with a full server, things might start to get crowded in an 11vs11 match.
Stag isn’t so great. There are many pointlessly long hallways and there is a lot of jumping onto crates/barrels that slows down the game pace.

I only played Broma briefly and was a bit lost on it, but it is pretty good. Not sure if I like that tiny platform for point B where one crit could take out the team, but other than that it seems like a pretty solid map. And thanks to jk for being a nice guy to everyone on his team who didn't have a clue where they were going and giving them some directions.

Okay first I suggested Broma which is clearly the top map on server #2 even if everyone hasn't realized it yet. Now I show you the obvious replacement for stag:
cp_egypt
A dustbowl style 3 stage attack/defend, without the spam. Replace horizontal, claustrophobic tunnels/buildings with huge vertical battlefields set to a backdrop new to TF2. Well designed and an instant classic on a full competitive server of players. Every class is useful here, and the ability to perch atop the many pillars/ledges as demo/soldier makes for interesting game play that is not completely halted by engineers.
Also worth consideration: cp_overflow, although it is somewhat condensed for a full server.

I've played Egypt. Not bad, although I kept flashing to Charlton Heston singing "Let my people go"

I played cp_overflow awhile back and really enjoyed it. I thought it was a very well thought out map with a really cool layout and design.
cp_egypt sounds cool too. Wouldn't mind giving that a shot.
Really, anything other than cp_stag... (shudders)
