View Full Version : HLstatsX Poll - G$ & NR

Hi guys, we're gonna be bringing back sexy, tea cosys, the myth that manofphat tries to pick up chicks by saying he runs a gaming community, and also the HLstatsX for the soon-to-be-named-but-currently-known-as Gibs servers. The only question left is to decide if we should integrate the two sets of stats or keep them seperate.
I have a pretty good idea of which way this poll will go, but hey who knows :)
Vote away!

Yeah but I think even #3 & #4 are more professional than the modded servers.

While #3/4 are more easily filled by non-regulars than #1/2, I still think that #1 to #4 should be in one big happy group, with the gibs servers off by themselves.

No point in either if these cats aren;t sticking around. Seems they eventually want to move on to attempt their own thing. I mean as much as they're being helped out here they seem to want to keep their own autonomy. Until they decide one way or the over my vote says no dice

Thats kind of false.
Essentially, from what I gather, the community wants to have its own guild/community type thing still, but get the servers through NR by donating, or essentially, renting the servers as one big group.

The servers were always hosted by NR, dave - Tony rented them off our box at 151 Front Street - as well as the website and forums and whatnot. Whatever G$ does decide to do, they'll still end up being tied to NR one way or another - so while they are fully integrated atm, we may as well decide about the stats too :)
But Dave does bring up a good point, aside from the obvious reasons of why we should keep them seperate (gameplay), if G$ does decide to get their own site for the community, it'll be a lot harder to seperate the stats if they've already been smushed together.

Definitely different. Isn't it true that you can't lose points in Gibs?

or anything else that causes you to die.
How can you have a point system that only gives +'s, that's like playing black jack with only aces and face cards and you always double down(aka the super-fail-system)

But, to not be a dick and actually answer the question, you lose points based on how many points the player killing you has. There's a formula around somewhere along with all the weapon and other points modifiers.
It makes staying alive a little more important.

I think if the vote ends up being "no, keep them seperate," then long live gibs, but if not gibs is going to die out.

on the topic of stats. Are they running on the gib$ servers ATM? I don't have an ID or rank on the HLstats.

Gibs stats are wildly skewed by who you kill and what you do. You did not lose points for dying. Zapping an FNG gets you a few points while zapping a big pointer gets you big points in return. Holey Moley is the king of the old stats with around 1.3 million points.
I know under the TNR system I would be running pretty much negative on HLStats so I think you know where my vote goes. I suppose I could always put down the scattergun and pick up a wrench.

What a bad idea. 3 and 4 are nothing like Orange and 2 fort. They're totally different styles, even if 3 and 4 always end up being demo-spam at one point or another.

You can see the point system here:
http://tnr.hlstatsx.com/?mode=help
Killer Points = Killer Points + (Victim Points / Killer Points)
× Weapon Modifier × 5
Victim Points = Victim Points - (Victim Points / Killer Points)
× Weapon Modifier × 5
Ahhhh just try not to be a victim of da mighty Axe of Dave or Lou!
Then no worries about negatives for points = )
I hope they don't mash stats, so much has changed since the last time I was on here. Kind didn't feel like TNR for a bit till I saw the HATERADE!!!

I enjoyed the Gibs system because it showed what you have done over time...this of course coming from a player with 150k...280th overall...

Having the two systems would be nice, one favours conservative play while the other favours aggresive play. Personally I always feared that we might start using the -points for death style and that it would turn the servers into an all out camp fest, esp in ctf. Separate stats create diversity and additional reasons for inter server play. Thanks for keeping it separate.
P.S. Ill have to come to the NR servers and see how my axe compares <3
