Use this thread to report any bugs with this new site. Be sure that it's a bug and not something wrong with your setup.

Keep it mind that this is my first time running this forum system and there are bound to be some pretty stupid mistakes made and I may not be able to fix them right away, so be patient with me please.

The thanks and groans have been disabled in the announcement and ban forums. They have also been disabled for posts more than 10 days old. If you don't like them, don't use them.

ADD ON :: ok i have a suggestion to make, on the new homepage theres a list of "recent topics" i think they are a great addition BUT you have to browse them starting at the first page, can we get the regular "1,2... last" thing that we have on the regular "new posts" section.

/agree

the width isn't exactly 1024x768 friendly, but that 1,2...last thing is the most irritating, ultimately it works out to the same number of clicks but I just feel the old system functioned better, and if we could get a "new posts" thing somewhere, it'd be nice, so that we can look at the uber-recent and look at recent with the old style.

Good idea. I'll look into it.

I'm aware of the issue at low resolutions and I'll be working on resolving that.
There is another "New Post" button under Quick Links on the top navbar.

lol mano, the site looks super sexy from home using the 22 inch wide, just for that ill put up with 1280x1024 at work :P its still very much functionable, but its just hawt from home :D

I also have another suggestion... for the poll on the left, can it display the number of votes instead of the percentage or both... instead of having 50% persons going to TKJ-LAN :P cause u cant even see the total number of votes and it makes it really hard to figure out how many 50% really is

ADD ON :: edit my bad i just found the total number, but maybe having the number up there would still help?

FURTHER ADD ON :: disregard all that, im an idiot... its setup just fine, i retract my suggestions, when u click on view poll statistics it explains everything to you.

I found a new website bug, but then realized it was a real bug crawling across my screen. I proceeded to hammer the sheit out of it as it was perched on Manophats avatar - there are no more bugs on the site - only dead pixels - is there a patch to fix that ?

found another glitch, when you go into somones profile and click on either "find all groaned posts, or find all thanked posts" by this person, both are dead links.

The Killing Joke
April 20th, 2007, 04:55 PM
Is there any way the forum links on the home page can bring you to the last page you've read? I'm getting tired of having to click "Last", or a number and then "Last"...

Thanks for submitting your bugs/feature requests guys. As I'm sure you're all aware, the majority of them haven't been resolved yet; for this, I apologize. I hope that most of you have come to expect a certain level of quality and quick response from me and I hope that this doesn't change.

I'm currently entering exam week at school and right after that I'm starting a new job for the government so all my attention is diverted to that. Once I'm finished my exams and I'm comfortable with my workload, the site work will be dealt with efficiently.

I'm aware that some of the issues are a large annoyance for some and I ask you to hold on just a slight bit longer.

Thanks for understanding,

Your manofphat.

Somethings up with the Forum Home page. I recently noticed this becuase its a page that i barely use thanks to the "new posts" and "top10 most recent posts" features that we have.

But if you do actually click on Forum Home, there's some sort of RIDICULOUS spacing issue between the header and the main content... its like 500 pixels tall... not sure if only an IE thing I dont have Firefox installed here at work. (yet)

I'm not sure if you've noticed, but when looking at all the forums you have access to the moderators square has nothing written in it.

With vBulletin you can have global moderators and individual forum moderators. Forum moderators only have moderation privileges for one particular forum. Global moderators have moderation privileges over all forums. We only have global moderators (Skully, Landspeed, myself). Because we are global moderators we don't get listed there and unfortunately I can't get rid of that column :(

Note: I managed to say moderators 8 times there.

Don't even think about it - sigs are a forum 'requirement'. And no, Mike, you may not have a choice. Upgrade! (Hey, if I have to look at the forums in 1024x768 max res while I'm at work, you have to suffer too.)

also winston, I would say get a way to have a few versions of designs for the forums would be sweet, so we can all have the look we want. like if I dont wana have to scroll, I could go for a very basic look (and yes, I HATE scrolling so much to read all the posts lol)

I can do that. But I think I'd prefer not to have to maintain a bunch of styles. Each style that I load up is customized for our use and each time the forum needs an update or the style needs an update I have to redo those customizations and it can be fairly time consuming with only one style, let alone a couple.

When are you going to reveal the new forum ?

My deployment plan keeps on changing.
Now I can't just do a smooth transition from beta to production. I'll need to upgrade the production site right away (after testing the upgrade procedure in a sandbox of course).

At first, forum functionality will be degraded but will be improved with time. New features will also come in time.

vBulletin 4 goes gold on December 21st but they're planning an aggressive patching schedule until late January so that's going to be the upgrade point.

you should try a parallel deployment implementation or are they running off of separate databases ?

They have to run off of separate databases because the new installation makes a number of key database changes.
