the game is deathmatch. it is fast paced, with inaccurate guns (compared to 1.3). its a simple run and gun game, despite what others say. if you are into that, give it a try i guess. (get a guest pass... go to the steam forums and ask for one, then go from there if you like it)

best price is probably over steam.

imo, not worth 20 bucks... or 2 for that matter. there is no skill required for you to be good in the game, just a thompson or mp40. i was looking for a dod 1.3 but on the source engine... and that is anything but the case.

Bought it, and love it so far. Recoil is more realistic, as seem to be the effects of a nade. I agree with Chris also, the WWII guns are also a hoot. I've handled the M1 Garand and its nice to see these in game play.

my comparison comes from css and dod 1.3

the skill bit was due to the fact it took a while to get to a high skill level in 1.3, and its taking even longer to do the same in css. in dods i dont think ive ever had a score under 2:1 ratio when all i did was hold the forward key and use the thompson. try that in 1.3, see how far you get.

point is that the game is dumbed down an extremely great deal to try and make it more 'fun' and get more people to play it due to the fact 1.3 wasnt a huge success. but they killed their old audience, and the new one isnt there much either.

if you do think the game requires skill, i hope the only 'skill' you refer to is holding down 1 key and knowing when to click another.

Every game does have its challenge, and although running and gunning works, some skill and strategy will improve your score. Its still a kinda cool game me thinks.

sprint button + plenty of cover in source = safe.

1.3 had bullets that actually did damage, as well as go through walls. source doesnt. also where there was barbed wire in 1.3 now = sandbags in source (aka cover). this is why the run and gun works so well in source. of course if you run down the middle you will get plowed, but know where to go and what to avoid and you will have no problem.

once you know the maps, there are only a handful of mg spots people go to, once you know these spots, its rather simple.

the thompson is weak in terms of accuracy in source, but when the maps are so congested, and you know what to do, its better that way....

the recoil on the gun is fine, its the easiest thing to control, but the cone of randomness makes it shoot wildly into the air.

I find the game to be slower paced than CSS for sure. The running is too fast and the stamina burns like mad. Good luck hitting a running person >_> xD
