So, I was playing with my Vista settings, and noted that the monitor was setup as generic PnP, with a 60Hz setting, which is standard. I'm never one to use the generic settings, as I've got model numbers for every piece of hardware in my system...

So, I went online to grab the Samsung 913V video driver for Vista and lo and behold, they only have one for XP. I figured 'what the hell' and tried it. I popped it in, upped my settings to 75Hz...

HOLY HELL! The crisp graphics I am getting out of my monitor are unbelievable! I highly recommend updating your monitor drivers and pushing out as many Hz as your monitor will safely allow!

NOTE: Prawwwwwwwbably had more to do with the refresh rate then the drivers. When I kicked my monitor up from 60Hz to 100Hz it BLUE my mind. Now when I see something at 60Hz I get headaches and want to cry.

i get headaches from CRT's at 60Hhz or lower, i can just notice the flickering of the refresh and it kills my head.

With LCD's though... i really havent noticed much of a diff... i thought they were all 60Hz

I agree - I was making more of a point that without the proper drivers, pushing out higher Hz rates can be dangerous. I was concerned that somebody was going to change their generic drivers' settings to accommodate a 90Hz setting, "just because it's available".

...ahh - the life of crystal clear monitors. 60Hz makes Baby Jesus cry.

The LCD's for laptops are still pretty much all 60 Hz. And I totally hear your Wise, about the headaches. I find the crt's @ 60 burn the eyes, while the LCD's @ 60 are uncomfortable.

100 Hz is salvation - 75 is the minimum for safety IMO.
