Valve has Informed us about their plans to deliver free games to all owners of ATI RadeonT graphics cards via Steam, a popular platform for the distribution and management of digital content.

Effective immediately, all owners of ATI Radeon graphics cards may receive a free copy of Half-Life 2: Lost Coast and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch via Steam, http://www.steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/. Steam will automatically confirm the presence of ATI RadeonT hardware and then enable immediate access to full versions of the games free of charge.

For added convenience to new purchasers of ATI RadeonT products, Steam will be included in all ATI CatalystT Software and Driver packages through early 2008.

And, as recently announced by AMD, customers who purchase the new ATI RadeonT HD 2900 XT will also receive, upon release via Steam, the highly anticipated trio of new games coming from Valve: Team Fortress® 2, PortalT, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

That's a very good deal, we expect to see more Radeon users within the next few weeks.

I got both games when I first got my radeon.

But since I need a new card and with a Radeon 2900 xt, I'll get Team Fortress 2, PortalT, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two free.

the 2900 generally has better performance than a 8800GTS, but it's much more money

$100 isn't much? when the price is $400 thats 25% cheaper, guess it might just be me but a 25% discount is pretty huge... I'm gonna swap in my old ATI card, get some free games then swap back to my 7900 GTO

what happens to the steam id when you return the card?

Landspeed

The games will already be activated on your account they can't take them away from you. Since your steam id is the same for all games.

I didn't buy the video card.

I bought the games from a guy who bought that video card and doesn't play steam games, he's into Americas Army.

But the best part is how much it cost me.

Only $10

That is a sweet deal.

I already activated the product code and got DOD:S for free which i already owned and payed for now I wish i didn't pay for it.

doesn't even have to be a radeon, I got HL:LC free by having an all-in-wonder x800 pro (though I'm still pissed off at my friend's parts guy because I thought it was going to be a Radeon of the same number.)
