Hey there,

My name's Andrew, I'm from the Woodstock area (halfway between T.O. and London.) During the school year I'm up in Peterborough, so TNR servers are perfect for me wherever I am.

I just installed CS:S yesterday and was looking for local servers, found TNR and hopped on... The first team I joined had someone taking control over voice and I really appreciated knowing which site we needed to be at. After about an hour of playing I had about 4 points and 24 deaths... heh

But I was really impressed with the number of people who were on the server and I had a really good time. Now TNR is on my favourites list.

I usually grab SMG's because I know I'm going to lose it by the end of the round, but if the team is on a streak that allows me to have some fun with the m249. I hope that the MG isn't considered to be cheap or anything.

If you're playing and you notice me consistantly doing something that is poor form, I'm completely open to suggestions as to how I could improve my CS:S habits. I watched your tips and tricks video (Rick Roll) about five times and I think I'm now a CS pro. :)

Cheers,

Quango

One good way of learning the ropes is spectating the best player(s) when you are dead. You'll get a good idea of where to go in a level and what weapons to use.

Welcome to the servers, and to the comuntiy here at TNR, hope you enjoy your stay like so many of the rest of us have.

On a side note - Who are the best players that people should be watching.....?

the m249 is not cheap, it is actually entertaining to watch when someone buys it

Welcome man! Great introduction thread!

...During the school year I'm up in Peterborough...

I went to Peterborough for a year of school too. I went to Sir Sandford Fleming for business administration.

After about an hour of playing I had about 4 points and 24 deaths... heh

I wouldn't worry too much about that. I just had one of my co-workers try out our server for the first time last night, and well....the stats page (http://tnr.hlstatsx.com/?mode=playerinfo&player=17197) speaks for itself ;)

If you're playing and you notice me consistantly doing something that is poor form, I'm completely open to suggestions as to how I could improve my CS:S habits.

^that's what I did when I first started out. It works great man. Just hold TAB to get the scoreboard up and just spec the player with the highest score is a safe bet.

I watched your tips and tricks video (Rick Roll) about five times and I think I'm now a CS pro. :)

lol you can blame me for that one. Whenever you are stuck in a tricky situation in CS, just remember Rick and you'll be alright.

lol in a sense the rick roll works very well. The last thing you wanna do while playing css is get angry at losing. 9 outta 10 times you'll fuck up more.

welcome to the site dude.

remember, every time you get angry, just go watch rick, He'll cheer you up. :P

Thanks for the welcome everybody!

I'm very much a proponent of not getting angry over games, but I will never say the dreaded words, "It's just a game" cause I've been where it wasn't a game, in fact I'm just coming back from a four month complete hiatus from gaming because of a situation like that. All I can say is that MMO's are terribly addictive for me!

I'm at Trent (politics and philosophy) myself Manophat, I stop by the piggy every thursday night for trivia when I'm up there. My team got third place in the piggy cup last year.

I'm quite happy to have found TNR and will be looking through your sights more than my own for a couple weeks!

Have a good one,

Quango
