4. Here is a small little program that optimizes the packets that your network card sends out, according to your bandwidth.

Could CalamityGundam please repost the link or give the name of this program that is listed in the sticky? the link is not currently linked to anything...

Also, the public servers have a port listed (port 27015), is this the port that I should forward or does CSS work from a different port? I've found a router port forwarding guide that I can use, but I'm not sure which port I need to set up.

Thank you,

Quango

[Edit: Also, for the console commands listed in the forum FAQ for customizing my game client to TNR servers, can I have configs that I can load so that I can reconfigure from normal settings to TNR settings with a single command?

yes you can
go to
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\QUANGOSEMAIL\counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg
make a notpad file and save it as ansi in that folder, save it as autoexec, or quangoscfg

and then put commands like this

//_rates
rate "25000"
cl_updaterate "101"
cl_cmdrate "101"
cl_interpolate "1"
cl_interp "0.01"
cl_smooth "0"
cl_lagcomp_errorcheck "0"
cl_lagcompensation "1"

//Restrict the server commands
cl_restrict_server_commands "0"

cl_downloadfilter "nosounds" // Disables annoying pub sound downloads

fps_max "1337" // Caps framerate. Set to max monitor refresh rate + 1.

and then open ur cfg and paste a line like mine

bind "*" "exec autoexec"
or
bind "*" "exec quangosconfig"

now with this single button you can put in effect all ur settings

Great, thanks! I'll figure out something that I like... I'd like to get some good settings so that when I turn up my sensitivity I'm not changing too much at once...
