I burnt some data to a Memorex 8.5GB DVD using Nero Express 6
The write completed with-out errors, verified fine.
I ejected the DVD, and began setting up another, put the DVD back in.
While Nero was still open, the 1st made DVD's contents appeared in the nero express "add files" window, telling me, the DVD wrote ok.

So I eject it, delete the original content from my PC, label the DVD, and go to watch an episode from it on my other PC (I burnt some anime in data format).
Once in, windows comes up saying, "Hey great, a blank CD, what you wanna do?"

So low and behold, I have an 8.5GB DVD, with 6.5GB of Data on it, only nothing but nero can see the contents, and when it displays it, it has a paper icon with a RED X on it, and the files are grey'd out in appearance. I can't copy or paste from the DVD. I can take this DVD to any computer it appears blank untill looked at with Nero.

I sent a msg to nero support, any ideas till they tell me it's a problem with something totaly unrelated, like pirated Nero software. LOL

Yes of course, and surely not of much help but my Xbox OS see's nothing on the disc's either. Nero's sent me an automated responce, but no reply yet.

I'm guessing
A) Possibly a bad disc

B) Were the files actually working on your hard drive to begin with? Did you verify some of the data personally? Some torrent clients allocate disc space for files the second you load the .torrent file.

Or

C) Bad software. I have tried some of Nero's err, less legit stuff b4, and some of them are pieces of junk. Also, some Nero versions have serious incompatibilities with XP (this has been fixed for about 2 years now).

EDIT:
I'd love to know what a DULA layer DVD is? new competing format with BluRay+HD? :PPPPPP

Oh it's easy, this is green ray, same storage capacity as Dual layer reds, only cooler !

A) I've used 6 discs, I have burnt good working things with the discs, "The Guy Game" a DVD 9 ISO, but I used DVD Decrypter on it.. could be incompatable media for nero.

B) Yes I did verify they worked, Michelle and I both began watching some of it before I deleted it

C)It could be the software absolutly, but I will let you know the ONLY trouble I have with the software for burning, image making, ISO, BIN/CUE, and the odd audio, is when using express it chunks when I first select a media file that uses Divx. But thats cause nero insists on showing you the little preview, and it's the divx filters that slow it down, afterwards they've burnt no issues.

Thanx for helping brainstorm

Get yourself DVD Decrypter

Click Mode -> ISO -> Read
then
Tools -> Drive -> Close -> Track &
Tools -> Drive -> Close -> Session

So problem solved, nero's garbage.

What happens with Nero is it creates a multisesion disc almost all the time, but never closes the session. It needs finalizing in order to work. Nero mailed me with some similar information, after calling me a Ms. that is. and instructed me to download "Multimounter" a dll which ONLY allows you to see session logs and volume information on a Disc by Right clicking the DVD Rom -> Properties -> Volume..... great thanx ahead, you were no help, cause it doesn't work in XP majority of the time they go on to say in the e-mail further on.

Nero sucks, it can't finalize it's own burn sessions, I found a thread about this problem many people were having it, but with Fat32 tryin to burn large DVD's (lol foos) so I originally ignored it.

Soooo the break down, if you have a DISC and swear the data wrote, but nothing see's it. Try finalizing it. After 3 hours searching, I find out the only program with the built in feature, I already have and use, DVD Decrypter.
