inbeforenascar, oh wait. But srsly, wrc is still good, they introduced some weird rules a few years back and I believe 1 or 2 of the manufacturers were at least threatening to pull out cause it was getting stupid expensive, that's kinda when i stopped watching it.

Now world super bikes, that's where it's at, ducati, honda, ktm, bmw, kawasaki, suzuki, and aprilla. It's a really good series, and gets decent coverage on speed, weird hours, but at least it's still on.

Back on topic, stupid linkz not working, but http://www.stormloader.com/groupb/index.html, group b is the best no questions asked. Group B (rallying) and Group C (road racing) were the best evar no questions axed.

WRC is good, I used to watch it a ton but now just once in a while due to crappy coverage in NA. I loved Subaru back in the Makinen/Solberg days.

World superbikes, MotoGP, F1 are my three main racing favs. I do watch Indycar once in a while but miss the Champ car of the 90's/early 2000's.
I used to watch AMA superbike too, but that series has gone to crap this year. It's laughable how stupid it is. One example, they allowed 1125cc Buells (Harley owned) compete against the japanese 600cc bikes. PArt of this is because Buell's are v-twins vs inline4's, but the Ducati's are v-twins and only allowed 800cc. Blatent american favouratism. Now they are also letting in a race only version of the 1125cc bike, when the rules very clearly state only production based bikes that anyone can buy in a dealership are allowed.

You sure it's the gearbox? It sounds exactly like a 2way radio in a car that has an improperly grounded alternator. Drove me nuts when I used to drive cab and they were still on voice dispatch, once in a while one of the other cars would develop that problem.

Yes.




If you listen carefully, the 5th gear is usually not fitted with straight cut dog engagement gears because it is not necessary since you won't be downshifting to 5th gear, and the acceleration is not as important as the other gears. Synchros are usually left untouched at the highest gear.

edit: I misread what you said about the whine, you're talking about the communication device whine. My bad.

FORD TEAMS UP WITH RALLY CAR DRIVER KEN BLOCK FOR GLOBAL MOTORSPORTS

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 6, 2010 – Ford Motor Company announced today that it is teaming up with Ken Block, the California-based action sports icon-turned-rally driver, for future global motorsports opportunities.

Block, the 2005 Rally America Rookie of the Year and a three-time medalist at X Games, has cultivated a tremendous following with his Gymkhana videos on YouTube. In 2010, Block will campaign a Ford Focus in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and a Ford Fiesta in Rally America and X Games.

"I am stoked to be rallying in a Ford. They are an impressive force in the sport," said Ken Block. "From the days of the 1970s Escorts to the Group B RS200 to the modern-day Focus and now the Fiesta, Ford just does an excellent job at rally and I couldn't be happier to now be part of this amazing heritage. And, last year in North America, Ford's participation in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and X Games 15 were key elements for the launch of the Ford Fiesta for the U.S.

Just found out that a co-worker is the backup co-pilot for this guy. Two weeks ago, they hit a snow bank and broke off one of the wheels. What did they do? They took out complete suspension, tie rods, axle, lower control arm and wheel, put it in the trunk and ran 36 miles on three wheels and the skid plate. They went through the 1/4" plate and they were starting to grind at the frame.

Nor do you see Tsuchyia driving balls to the wall in heavy rain with intermediate tires starting from the back and finishing 6th overall in the BTCC.

JGTC i used to get my updates form Best Motoring dvd's plus the cars were plastered everywhere in my car magazines at the time.
I had an uncle working in London, so he'd tape the BTCC and gave them to me for Christmas.

BTCC - there are occasional feeds on TSN/TSN2/Speed
JGTC - can't really get in canada, can find feeds online somewhere or download the races
ETCC - so hard to find its stupid
Any bike racing besides MotoGP - randomly on Speed (usually WSB)
DTM - Occasionally on TSN/Speed check the listings
Speed World Challenge - Usually on speed
ALMS (i.e. some of the best racing these days) - Usually on Speed

All in all, ALMS/british F3/MotoGP are some of the best watching racing these days, also WRC like 3-4 years ago, I haven't watched it in the past 2 years really.

Once you start reading about racing, a few eras/racing series come up as being the all time greats. Group B rallying, Group C Sports cars, F1 from 1984-1994, MotoGP mid 90 to 2004 (early rossi), WSB 2002, Le Mans in the late 60's to late 70's (i.e. Porsche domination), F1 again from 1977 - 1981, etc.

All these series provided great racing, comebacks, new crazy technology, drivers with gigantic egos, awesome cars/bikes, etc.
