Didnt Canada lose 2-1 after their tieing goal was called offside in the late stages of the game?? or was that a premonition?

marvel

Go figure, we needed an american to remind us that we lost against them in soccer....soccer is the best sport in the world, but usa and canada both suck at it.

p.s.
did you guys know that only 1/3 of americans know where the statue of liberty is??

hey sky, where is the statue of liberty? ;) (dont google)

1. Soccer (Football) is the best game in the world.
2. The other 2/3 know exactly what time and channel Jerry Springer is on; enough said about our neighbours.

ps. Please refer to Football (american or canadian style) as throwball , as really there isn't much foot in it.

ps. No.

Soccer is soccer, football is football.
Welcome to north america, that's how it is.

1. Why would a canadian care about soccer? We pwn at hockey....that's all that matters.
2. Canada vs. US soccer is almost laughable to be honest. Think about it, it's like watching bumfuckistan VS. iraq in hockey.....

Cause of my time in Europe, I still call soccer 'Football'. I don't like the sport much, but to say that soccer in Canada and the US isn't worth paying attention to, hides the fact that it is very popular (especially among first and second generation Canadians) and Canada has been gaining serious ground in international competitions.

I may not like soccer, but I'll support any Canadian national team, especially if they happen to be doing alright, like the U-20 team is

random hero:

it is not a cultural thing, it is just plain stupidity for naming american football 'football'. all over the world 'soccer' is referred to as football, yet for some reason in north america we have to show how special we are by giving up that name to a sport which should be called anything but football. throwball, yes. handball (im aware there is a sport with that name.), yes.

KT:

it is popular here, but that doesnt mean much as its popular with the kids that have EU roots. the canadians that do like soccer, are terrible.... i think canadas hope for any international success lies with the immigrants who are not good enough to play for their home country. canada has not been gaining any ground on the international stage... u21 does not count.

http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/ranking/lastranking/gender=m/fullranking.html#confederation=0&rank=158&page=2

we are ranked 56th in the world, and this doesnt mean much because we went up 38 positions in 1 month... probably cause we actually won stuff against other shit teams during the gold cup. so dont expect it to last, we will be back in the 90's in no time.

Way to show your national pride, I am guessing you don't support or troops in "bumfuckistan" to.

I will be celebrating my first Canada Day as A 'Canadian' and I am proud, no very proud to be Canadian and supporting all that is Canadian no matter how laughable. After all I am a Leaf's fan nothing gets more laughs than that.

Oh and for the record I have played "soccer" for 35 years, infact played 3 games this weekend.

lmao. in my opinion american football is just an exuse for horny gay americans to hit, tackle, and lay on eachother. and as for soccer, as I said before, is a stupid sport. from what ive seen of the sport, in that whole setup of ::: for the players you cant really even leave the position your in.

Id rather watch lacrosse (canadas real national sport, believe it or not) or hockey (fist fights and hitting a hard puck on a nice temperature Ice rink).

Krythos you have obviously never played competitive soccer because if you have, you would know that soccer is a lot more than just hitting, tackling and laying on eachother. Its actually a brutal sport believe it or not. You wouldnt believe it, but pros play so dirty. I hate soccer just as much as you guys do because Ive played since I was 4 years old and Im so tired of it. I think soccer players are pansies and I would rather watch American Football or hockey, or some other contact sport.

I got smoked in the face playing soccer last week. Went up for a header and so did an opposing player. I couldn't feel my numb face for a while, and my mouth was bleeding. Good memories, but i was angry at the time.

At any rate, I'm not going to get into a discussion about which sports are more violent and therefore better or more masculine. Screw it, I like sports that take skill, endurance and brains. I love Baseball, and just cause it's not second for second as exciting and there's low chance of death, does not take anything away from the sport.

If I like soccer, wicked, cause then I'll get outside, play with some friends and get a bit of exercise. If you like a different sport, awesome, go play it. To sit at a computer and debate what sports are more extreme is pretty ironic and lame

I'm not very good, but I'm big, so I just run at people who have the ball and lose my balance as I get close, knocking them down

ok, krythos from what your saying, i think the only reason for not liking soccer is becuz u cant play it. Usually ppl who down things or sports are no good at them. not saying im amazing but ive been playing soccer since i was 6 and just recently i broke my ankle in a game and i cant wait to get the cast off and get back into the game, even tho im 18 i know ill always enjoy playing, And for the other thing about and soccer players are not pansies man, but i agree there are those who tend to over exxagerate and injury or a push on the field, but those are usually the ones who are weak and get thrown around on the field

soccer is boring to watch but fun to play
and you guys in soccer put urself in bad positions running into and infront of others, its like skating with ur head down in hockey or skating into a corner when u know theres a dude right behind you

man i miss playing soccer...

peg i'm a decent player what is there out there in the gta for soccer leagues for casual players?

i'd consider playing again once a week or on the weekend

NOvaCAne

Chimaera, no offence soccer is nothing like Hockey. It's the courage of the player who gets stuckin there to win a ball that sometimes get them hurt, unlike those "pansies" who back of a challenge afraid to get hurt. If you go in 110% you often come out the better. And after playing 35 years I've seen pretty much everything of injurys. I can tell there is nothing better than two player going in full out and both coming up shake hands and move on, much like any sport it's about respect. A small minority of hockey players tend to lack common respect.

J22 once a week, I've have 6 in 9 days :). But to be honest only playing 5 cause I am P. A. R. T. Y on Canada Day :).........
