Free the DM! - Vote for secondary server

I would like to petition the gods of the Northern Resistance to bring back the DM server.

I love DM in CS:S.....it's the best practice session around.

I think the future plan for the secondary server is to run Team Fortress 2 when it comes out. If you want to for now we can start up the death match again. I've added a poll to this thread.

Yeah, that's the point. It's fast paced and meant for warming up. It's good because you get to warm up with every weapon before going to play for rank.

People in vent just kicked my ass. I went in there to get suggestions on settings for the gungame deathmatch and now I don't know which direction to go. So many ideas were spewed out. Here are some:


Regular server with less slots and aim maps
Regular server with just custom maps
64 slot server, 33 tick, custom admin models, custom sounds, dust2, bet mod
Weekly map server where the next week's map is voted on the website
24/7 dust2 or office
a server that changes games on each map change. Source -> DoD -> 1.6
Exact duplicate of our current server
A server that just displays porn. You connect, everytime you shoot you get a different piece of porn. No actual gameplay.


Obviously some of those are just jokes, but there are a lot of things that we could do with the server and maybe we need to discuss this some more?

for my opinions (I know they probably dont mean much, even though Ive been playing on NR since it more or less opened up XD) like how gerry posted them.

* Weekly map server where the next week's map is voted on the website (people might participate on them, for those who want to anyway, youd have to have it so the same map cant be played more then once every 3 weeks, so we dont have dust2, something random, dust2, something random, because you know that would happen)
* 24/7 dust2 or office (as my earlier post, I agree with gerry fully, it would be full of noobs)
* a server that changes games on each map change. Source -> DoD -> 1.6 (not worth it, not everyone has 1.6 and DoD and source.)

i like the first 4 ideas. the other ones i completely dissagree with... a server that switches the game every map is just the dumbest thing i've ever heard... i hope its one of the jokes..
a 64 slot 33 tick with betting would prolly fill u pretty well and be full of nubs before Cray learns to count to 64, might be good for donations becuase it would drag a lot of people in... but dotn expect me to mingle with them.

the custom maps thing woud be sweet but doesnt that rape bandwidth?

the weekly map thing could be cool, till a gay map gets voted... one things for sure... i doubt it will pick up regulars. 24/7 regulars need more consistancy, and wont want to join forums right away. so it would only be for existing members and they're gonna be playing the other server anyways. a 5v5 aim_map server would kick freakin ass. i would surely love to use my reserved slot to sneak in there :D

Guys, the reason he said 33 tic is because the Source engine can't keep a full 100 tic over ~20 people, and 66 over, it's either ~30 or ~40... that said I've seen servers go to a full 128 players... but it isn't pretty.
Keep the CSSDMGG 4 now, but could we work on some better GG maps? I know Logan -WMD Lost- Duval has made a few really good ones that are popular with the entire GG community, any map named wmd_ is his work and I personally enjoy all his maps.

hey for the DM GG. can ya put the pistols at the end instead of at the begining? its annoying when people keep stealing kills to get ahead then you cant get past like the second pistol cuz either your being knifed back over and over or people with the better guns just rape. so it would be funner if the pistols were at the end, since it would be easier to get to the higher levels but harder to win

They tend to go to other servers that have a steady supply of what they want.
