Hey guys, I was just playing on the server and I noticed that it had switched a bunch of my AK47 texture/model back to the standard ones. No big deal, I thought, probably just sv_pure working it magic. So I move out and start shooting and I notice something much worse, my AK47 sounds are gone. Now, I can understand sv_pure making your textures standard but why sounds? And also, how do I get my normal sounds to work again?

It should be grabbing your sounds from the cached steam files on your hard drive. You could try verifying your cache.

The reason why sounds are enforced is because people can remove certain ambient sounds that give them an unfair advantage.

Well, if they did whatever I did they'd still be able to remove the sound, Lol.

That or amplify certain sounds to increase their hearing range.

No.

No.

Well, I'm not hearing the sound, so if the game is trying to enforce purity of sound it's not working for me.

It's designed to catch textures, but if all it does is shutdown a shitload of sounds, then you're not giving anyone an advantage, sound files are a little harder to detect/enforce, but perhaps valve has something up there sleeves.

I'm still not having any luck. I removed the custom sounds and verified the cache but the sounds are still gone, what do I do, re-install the whole game?

try deleting your scripts folder
failing that, try deleting your counter-strike source shared.gcf

Thanks, I haven't tested it yet but I think that's going to work, because the script was pointing to the downloaded sound (which no longer exists).

Also, I paid for a one day ban and I want it soon, payment has already been made! Lol.
