View Full Version : Buy binds in the "new" source?

Hey guys. I'm new to these forums, as well as to the servers. My name is Cale and I live in London ON. Basically, I've just returned to the world of Source since taking a year and some off from gaming in general. Before I left I had my buy binds intricately layed out but I've found that a few of them don't work anymore.
my armour binds that used to be on the arrow keys, won't work. I'm not sure if it's the bind itself that is obsolete or what.
If you guys have any input for me, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks boys!

Hey Cale, welcome to the Northern Resistance... just ignore those guys who posted above me; they are shit disturbers around here.. lol, not really.
I am definately not the one to help you with your binds, as I dont use any - it's an age thing, dont ask.
Anyway, welcome to the TNR community, slay ya on the server.
Cheers,
Skully

Welcome to the site SUDDZZZZZZ!
Some of the more complex binds have become illegal over time, so they are blocked. By the sounds of things you are binding simple buy commands.
If so, this site should help you out with the more recent naming and whatnot:

Hope that helps

You could always do the Gerry Classic
Bind "Mouse1" +forward
Bind "Mouse2" +Back

...unless you're talking about being tied down, in which you're the perfect person to ask. ;)

baahaha.... Great responses :D
I tried f10 but I think my css is messed up cause it kept crashing....
...... i keed.
As for the website gundam posted.. thanks, but those are the binds I had that keep getting deleted. Ah well... I'll just learn the buy menu I guess :-/
Monkey, I'm born and raised in London.. unfortunately. I'm so bored of this place it's rediculous. I grew up in Byron on the west side, but now I live on Richmond near the UWO gates. I'm at UWO for History. What are you taking, and where?
Thanks for the help kids, even though you all suck and couldn't help me, you tried... and that's all that matters.... sort of..

OMG KT, oh no you didn't !!!! (waves finger back and forth)
The Gerry Classic is a proprietary keybind that was patented through the Underwriters Laboratory Canada and is illegal for use under bylaw 10.3.2, subsection 3, paragraph 2.2

Here are some examples that work (ie mine)
bind "KP_HOME" "buyammo2"
bind "KP_UPARROW" "buy flashbang"
bind "KP_PGUP" "buyammo1"
bind "KP_LEFTARROW" "buy hegrenade"
bind "KP_5" "buy m4a1; buy hegrenade"
bind "KP_RIGHTARROW" "buy awp; buy hegrenade"
bind "KP_END" "buy ak47; buy hegrenade"
bind "KP_DOWNARROW" "buy vesthelm"
bind "KP_PGDN" "buy deagle; buyammo2; buy hegrenade"
http://www.fpsbanana.com/pages/436 for a buygen. Or you can manually look up the name and use those.
If you need any more help send me a PM.

thanks DS. This is weird because those are the binds I have/had. The deagle bind along with the vest and vesthelm binds don't work anymore.
I'm just going to delete my config file and start fresh, maybe that will do it..

Try putting the binds in your config.cfg. Those are what I use atm and everything except for buyammo1 & buyammo2 work.
If you still can't get it working send me your autoexec & config; it may be something in there there that's blocking it.

Sorry for my lack of forum activity guys :P, Here are the binds that I use, The logic to the first two is easier to understand if you know that I have a g5 and my tilt wheel is set to "]" and "["
bind ] "buy weapon_flashbang;use weapon_flashbang"
bind [ "buy weapon_hegrenade;use weapon_hegrenade"
bind kp_end "buy vesthelm; buy vest"
bind kp_downarrow "buy defuser"
bind kp_pgdn "buy deagle"
bind kp_leftarrow "buy hegrenade"
bind kp_5 "buy smokegrenade"
bind kp_rightarrow "buy flashbang"
bind kp_home "buy mp5navy"
bind kp_uparrow "buy m4a1; buy ak47"
bind kp_pgup "buy awp"
bind kp_ins "buy tmp"
bind kp_del "buy elite; buy fiveseven"
bind kp_enter "buy m3"
bind kp_plus "buy famas; buy galil"
bind end "exec autoexec.cfg"
It all uses the NumPad so you keep the bulk of your keyboard free for whatever you want.

Sweet... thanks for the tips DS and Orion... If I can't figure this out myself (I think I can) I'll let you guys know and maybe you can take a look for me :D
Monkey... I'm 23 and in 1994 I was 10 soooo... just a bit of a difference! How do you like London? I'm guessing you have a different perspective on the city. Personally, being in a rock band, I think the music scene blows, the bars are geared towards 17 year olds, the restaurants are meh, and the metal trees aren't as bad as people make them out to be!

Here are mine. Fairly simple, really. Buy ones you can understand right off. The alias ones are basically set up so that whenever I hit up on the mousewheel, I pull out my primary weapon, and whenever I hit down, I take my secondary. They should all be perfectly legal in CAL as well, seen as they technically only serve one function per key-press.
bind kp_home "buy deagle"
bind kp_uparrow "buy mp5navy"
bind kp_pgup "buy p90"
bind kp_leftarrow "buy galil; buy famas"
bind kp_5 "buy ak47; buy m4a1"
bind kp_rightarrow "buy sg552; buy aug"
bind kp_end "buy scout"
bind kp_downarrow "buy awp"
bind kp_ins "buy tmp; buy mac10"
bind kp_del "buy smokegrenade"
bind kp_slash "buy vest"
bind * "buy vesthelm"
bind kp_minus "buy flashbang"
bind kp_plus "buy hegrenade"
bind kp_enter "buy defuser"
alias "main1" "use weapon_sg550;use weapon_mac10;use weapon_aug;use weapon_xm1014;use weapon_p90;use weapon_tmp;use weapon_mp5navy;use weapon_ump45"
alias "main2" "use weapon_galil;use weapon_famas;use weapon_m4a1;use weapon_awp;use weapon_g3sg1;use weapon_sg552;use weapon_scout;use weapon_m3;use weapon_m249;use weapon_ak47"
alias "main3" "use weapon_fiveseven;use weapon_usp;use weapon_glock18;use weapon_glock;use weapon_deagle;use weapon_p228;use weapon_elite"
alias "pri" "main1;main2"
alias "sec" "main3"
alias "mes" "use weapon_knife"
bind "mwheelup" "pri"
bind "mwheeldown" "sec"
bind "f" "mes"
Oh, and it's best to create an "autoexec.cfg", and just add an "exec "autoexec.cfg"" to your config.cfg
"Why?" you might ask? Because it's easier to go back, see what you did, and edit it later on.

Was referring to the changing weapon binds, actually. The buying ones that I have only do one action at a time, seen as there's no more need to buy ammo, anyhow. Something they should have left in, in my opinion... every penny counts, and they remove the buy-a-single-clip bit, only to add "dynamic" buying. Silly bastards...
