OK guys, I'll give you the run down on my current setup before getting into the issues.
Main---------------Server
p4 3.0 ghz XP------------p3 733 Ubuntu Server
6800 XT-------------------ATI Rage Pro
|--------------\--------------/
17" CRT-------KVM Switch
-----------------------|
--------15" POS monitor circa 1995
My issue is this:
If I start my PC(XP) with the shitty monitor attached directly to it at startup, i get my dual monitor support and everything runs peachy, I can even disconnect the monitor, hook it up to the KVM and switch freely. However, if I start up my PC(XP) with the KVM attached then only the 17" monitor actually shows up and I can't get the POS monitor to show up on it at all. The server detects the monitor with the KVM attached just fine, but this bug seems to be rendering my KVM useless and I'm stuck looking at remote desktop-ing instead :/
Anyone know a fix? (ie. a way to FORCE xp to output on both video chanels whether or not there is anything attached?)

Ok i take it what your trying to do is the setup i have on my PC. Primary monitor for PC only, and then your secondary monitor can switch between computers with the Keyboard and Mouse.
I run this setup. If the KMV switch is plugged into both computers at startup, than since your Server is already up and the PC isnt booted the switch will automatically switch over to the other computer. So when you go to boot your PC you have to manually switch it back for the boot up. (ctrlx2) or what ever your shortcut is try using the manual button too. Then after its booted you wont have any probs and u can swap back and forth freely.
PS. your hilaroius... ur linux box server is almost identical to mine, same cpu lol

I tried that, I pushed the button so the red light was on VGA1(main PC) and booted up, but nothing, I even tried swapping repeatedly as it booted up :/... I'm wondering if it's just because my KVM is a cheap piece of crap ($26 at a local computer shop)

Tried connecting just to your pc, with just one monitor to see if it would at least function?
Edit: After reading your post 30 times!!! I have come to the conclusion that the kvm is focked.

So the problem is that you're not getting a display through your KVM right? At least only in Windows?
I have a Trendnet 207, so my guesses are based on that.
Basic Basic: Get the right wire. Make sure the wire for Monitor 1 is going to your secondary display output on your video card.
Basic: You might need to enable extended desktop every time you start windows.
Intermediate: Drivers are messed up, do the opposite of what you're doing (reinstall, install, uninstall)
Advanced: Reprogram it
I know my keyboard/mouse take 5 seconds to become operational in windows (as opposed to immediately in Linux) so it's not perfect even when it is working (oh and I can hotkey switch to Linux, but not back)

i would go with this solution...
Advanced: Reprogram it
