After installing all my hardware, i try to boot up but windows does not reognize any usb devices even though my bios does. My G5 responds with its LEDs being on up until the windows loading screen. wtf is wrong?

You need to install the Intel chipset drivers.

sry bout forgetting about the chipset drivers phil, grab your mobo CD and give em a whirl like wes said, the fact that you could even boot to windows on a new mobo is a good sign.

Yeah - consider yourself lucky that you can even get into Windows man. Anytime I load up a new mobo I always count on a windows repair at least.

I have had problems lately with the SetPoint software for the G5. sometimes when the pc boots, the mouse will not work. Simply have to replug, but its still annoying.

Do you custom map buttons on your G5? I never bothered with Logitech drivers when I used my MX510.

If you are asking me Wes, mine has no custom mapped buttons. their software is nice for fine-tuning your mouse speed/acceleration.

It's also better then the windows standard drivers, if and only if you get SetPoint to work around the windows drivers. There was an article a while back on the CAL forums, I think it was by Firestarter, but he went pretty in depth about how the windows drivers are quicker to discard redundant pixels, so you end up losing a little bit of the movement registry for your mouse (mind you, w/ me @ 2000 DPI I have 4x redundancy), but it's nice when it all registers properly. Try re-installing the SetPoint drivers if they give you trouble, and make sure to do firmware updates as necessary. Also, being able to map the tilt wheel gives the g5 a button count advantage over the mx series, more so for the gen2 g5.

My goal in life is to make a system that can multi-boot Mac/Windows/Linux/Solaris/BSD/maybe more. Not that I'd use anything other than Windows...maybe a little Linux for software development.

Anyone seen the G9 yet? It's bringing ugly back. Still, if it's functional...

The new G15 looks stellar, I might pick one up. But now it's the same price as the Razor...and that has some good reviews.
