The Steam Community Beta was released today. It seems cool although a little laggy. Give it a look and make your own profile etc.
You can access it by going to settings in Steam, then choosing to join in a beta near the bottom of the page. I made a TNR page, I'm not sure how to get you there in steam, but if you go to http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TNR you might begin to figure it out.

In case you don't know, you've got to update your Steam Beta participation to be part of the Steam Community Beta. Just open steam, click settings and then change the Beta participation dropdown menu to "Steam Community Beta".

Wow...buggy as hell. When SCB is enabled - if you hit your Windows key while playing, it will boot you back to Windows even though the key is disabled via registry. Everything lags quite a bit too (menus). Clicking and dragging on a window will cause the window to maximize as if you double-clicked...
Great concept again, needs more time :(

Sounds like you're talking about some kind of Valve product.

Are you COMPLETELY sure? ;)
I have to say...STEAM's been improved quite a bit now - I'd say it's even a *gasp* good program.

I'm just wondering what this new feature is suppose to cover up in terms of buggyness with the old one or whatever.....
Problem: Buggy system, game, etc.
Solution: New program with more bugs!

To be honest, I've had no problems with it whatsoever. The only time it lags up is for a few seconds when you click SHIFT-TAB to open/close.

I haven't really noticed any bugs, just some incomplete options

Same. It's still a beta, though, so we'll see.

Par for the course on that one......
seems like "Half" life isn't the only thing that's progressing at a snail's pace.

I just switched over to beta and when I went to restart steam I get this:
Steam.exe(main exception):CmultiFieldBlob(pserialized): Bad field - extends past end of blob.
So any suggestions? Nothing on the steam forums. I figure if I reinstall Steam it will go back to the old version but I don't know what file to delete to allow it to re-install. Anyone know that one?
Ok nevermind. I deleted the steam file, let it reinstall and it reinstalled as the beta and is now working. Not sure why it did what it did before. Oh well it's working now.

I just don't like the shift+tab thing cause times when it's only me left I like to walk = shift and see how many are left = tab.....
result flashes in and out of user find.

PROTIP: F3 is not bound by steam -> in settings bind F3 (or other useless F keys) to Steam Friends.

Sweet, cause that was getting on my nerves something fierce.

You could have also just disabled it.
I uninstalled the beta, because I can do everything I did through firefox, and it was destroying my less than good computer.

The Steam icon on the system tray - when I left clicked on it to bring up the options:
Games, Friends, Servers etc... nothing happened. Had to click on it a few times to get it to work. Stopped participation, now it works as before.

I had to cancel my participation as well due to certain issues that arose. Great concept. Needs another 2 years. And it still won't be totally stable ;)
