Looking to purchase a netbook. Nothing too fancy, as I'd like to keep it around $200-$250. Would prefer a 10" that can run at least 4 hours on a charge. HDMI out would be a bonus, but not a deal-breaker.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I saw this:

... and would love one. Am I getting sucked in somehow?

Ehhh, I'd look for an Ion-based netbook. The Pinetrail chipset, though better, still won't really do HD video, and without HD decoding, HDMI-out is somewhat useless :\

Yeah - the HP Mini 311 is Ion-based. That's why I was considering it.

You must have missed the great speech by Steve Jobs. Google it. Netbooks fail at everything!

Hit up eBay, I got my Dell Mini 9 for $300 (but only because they'd just killed the line)

If I get a Dell Mini, I'll do dfsdirect...
(I wonder if this will register as a mobile post...?)

ASUS Eee 1005 series. PE, especially. With the new N450, it's reported to have 12 hours of battery life. The 1005HE has about 6-8 hours of battery life.

Is it with a Redflagdeals coupon? Because those prices are with the 15% off coupon from that site already.

No, it would have been through work but I don't know if you could combine that with another coupon.

Is this/that better than either of the Lenovo products I posted?

If that was possible, I'd appreciate it. I might actually cut my posting down to 25 a week as a "thank you"...

Hmmm... still looking, and the Lenovo model I had my eye on went up in price... any advice?
-$500 price range
-less than 13" screen
-just want it to do the Office suite, maybe play a video or two (720p max) and surf
-battery life greater than 6 hours

I bought this.
http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptop/toshiba-mini-nb-305-n410.aspx
it's pretty sexy. struggles with 720p video if it's flash based since flash sucks my left testicle. hardware output, it's pretty peppy given the specs and gets an ungodly amount of battery life. Easily 10+ hours without trying if you put it in power saving mode, and has lots of nice little trickle down features that 90% of the other models simply don't have.
other than I'd prefer it to have a little bit more chutzpah under the hood (the CPU is one of those super low voltage atoms, hence great battery life -- but between that and the intel GMA you do lose some performance, but it's handily "good enough"), it's pretty fucking terrific. viewing angles could be better on the screen, and i should prolly run the monitor through a colorimeter somehow to get the full experience. I think the viewing angle thing is due to the fact that I'm used to having a non-LED backlit 15.4" laptop screen though.
he keyboard is FANTASTIC, touchpad is the best you can find on a netbook, hands down, windows 7 starter is fine enough and has some pretty sexy features / ease of use stuff, though I'll prolly throw on xp pro. no hdmi out, but as thesniper said, good luck actually being able to drive that resolution without stepping up and buying one of those Alienware M11x laptops like I was considering. impacts your budget significantly, too. think $1000 in after tax with no options?

An asus 1201 would do the trick. It can do 1080p through hdmi with about 5hours of battery life. However, price tag is arround $550. Ncix has it for $539.99 with 2GB of ram. The drawback is that it has the old atom processor.
For my part, I use a m11x. It is sick but the price tag is crazy.

If battery life and HD content is important, wait for the ION 2 netbooks.
