Steam News - Alien Swarm Game and Source SDK Now available

Alien Swarm is now available via Steam.

Available free of charge, the game thrusts players into an epic bug hunt featuring a unique blend of co-op play and squad-level tactics. Along with the game get the complete code base for Alien Swarm that features updates to the Source engine as well as the SDK.

Alien Swarm is a game and Source SDK release from a group of talented designers at Valve who were hired from the Mod community.

I'd love to download it, but the steam servers are swamped (from Toronto, London UK, Los Angeles, it doesn't matter). It looks like a blast.

Edit: Wow. Now Toronto is finally downloading. It'll take a bit (400k/s), but it's running.

Re-edit: Now it's chugging away between 800-900k/s. 20 minutes to go.

Servers has been too busy since the release. A few of my friends have gotten lucky and are already playing it.

Of course it's worth downloading! You get a free TF2 hat when you unlock the "Hat Trick" achievement in-game. The hat, 'Parasite hat', will be available at the next TF2 patch. Get it BEFORE Valve decides to stop giving them out.
