    Looking for a New Headset

For a while now I've been using a cheap headset with masking tape holding the mic and the things I'm looking for would be sound quality for pugs/shows/music,PRICE,a mic attached with it would be nice plus also.

My budget is roughly $100 and can dig my pockets a bit more depending if its gonna be bigger difference in quality.

Also would like to know what kind of headsets you're all using and what you think of them.

I bought this 5 years ago:

Works for me. There are probably better options out there...

I bought the same headset as MoeB about 6 years ago and have had zero complaints. Plantronics makes (or at least made) really excellent quality headsets. At the time of purchase, it listed for about $129.99.

You're going to get the best bang for your buck (and get far superior audio quality) if you keep your mic and your headphones separate. If you need them attached because you don't have room for a desk mic or don't want to mod your headset ignore the rest of this post.

I wear Audio Technica ATH-AD700's for gaming. They're big, comfortable, and have excellent sound quality and sound stage. You can grab them refurbished every once and a while for ~ $60 or new for ~ $85.

Until they were stolen ( ), I used a pair of Alessandro MS-1's (rebadged/redesigned Grados) for music. The sound quality was awesome, but they lacked the soundstage needed for gaming.

I'd recommend taking a look over at some audiophile sites to see if the AD700 is still the best gaming headset in your price range. From what I recall the next "step up" that's possibly worth the money is a set of Beyerdynamic's that cost $200 or so.

I'm using Logitech G35's as well. The sound quality is good but TBH I probably wouldn't buy again. I ended up disabling most of the features because I would accidentally activate them too often. Plus, there is a bug with Windows 7 64 bit that causes a loud static noise to happen randomly that Logitech hasn't patched for more than a year now. It's the first time I've purchased a Logitech product where I wasn't completely 100% satisfied.

I was using a $19.99 headset from walmart for a year then the headphones went and just kept using the mic for about 3 years.. now use some steel series headphones and a weird looking desktop mic that was $20?

Re: Looking for a New Headset

Cool thanks for the suggestions so far, I've been doing some research myself and its not that I REALLY need to have a mic attached, its just that I find that it would have less clutter instead of having a headset mic around my neck and another set of headphones on for example.
But, I can deal with having a clip on mic or w/e and wear some headphones np.

Also, seems like some of your headphones you guys are using are hard to find both retail and online =/ I forgot to add in that I would be buying them locally.

AD700's I believe aren't in Canada? I've been looking around some audiophile sites like you said and they do look the best bang for buck quality headphones, would keep these ones in mind.

Even though I have a problem with creative products as I used to have a sound blaster audigy that used to crackle which they never fixed... what would you think of these? http://ncix.com/products/?sku=55273&...reative%20Labs
