Backdrops can be nice sceneries.
Being able to go there is exploration.

from the gameplay clips i've seen posted above - the combat lacks flow just as bad as the previous oblivion. As many times as they say "completely new" it looks very much like the same thing to me, except maybe with a few more polygons to better extend todays hardware.
Wanted to go with a casting tank build, like a traditional paladin. I may be tempted to go the way of archer after seeing the combat. Maybe I'll play a mage like i did in the last Oblivion, the dual hand casting could be cool. Needs staves though.
Yeah, there is something pretty unsatisfying about fighting in the recent Elder Scrolls games. In Daggerfall and Arena, where you were just fighting sprites instead of 3D models it didn't bother me - and it just felt cool swinging your mouse around to attack. Even though you weren't really doing anything, swinging your mouse around felt like you were more in control of the fight and were actually doing something strategically. Now that it's press X/click mouse to swing against something that looks more realistic it doesn't feel satisfying. You swing, it doesn't seem like you made contact with your opponent and you really only know you hit them because of the 'whoosh' sound of a miss, or the blood splatter on a hit. It's really disengaging. You just stand there and press the button a few times, and maybe back pedal a bit. It's kind of a boring encounter.
I thought they said they wanted to make fighting better. From the preview I saw, I didn't see it much. I was only half-paying attention to it, but it seemed like most of the attacks seemed like they were in Oblivion and Morrowind, and then a few special abilities like the shield bash that actually pushed the enemy back and made them stagger.
It seems like it's going to be pretty much Oblivion again. Not that it's really a bad thing. I really enjoyed Oblivion, it just feels like it lacks polish in a lot of areas. But it kind of seems like the main thing they polished are making the character's biceps look a little more rippling.
Why should I have to WORK for everything?! It's like saying I don't deserve it!
From what I've seen so far I can already tell that the metacritic score for Elder Scrolls V will be higher than Dark Souls'.
If you look at user scores on metacritic (not critic scores). Demon souls > Elder scrolls. Also they rhyme. And Demon Souls would have done better on critic scores but there are a few critics that were just like. "This game is too hard, I couldn't beat it. 2/10"
While I can agree to a certain extent (also you seem to be saying that the minimum score for a game isn't 6/10, is good joke), a game *can* be unnecessarily hard. That doesn't make it bad, but depending on execution, it can be bullshit. Like not being able to pause, or no save/checkpoints until you have completed an entire level.
I was really excited about this and then I found out Mojang isn't making it....can someone explain this?
I saw the last video for Elder Scrolls.
Does anyone fucking enjoy final moves being automatically done for you?
