    Logitech X-540 matrix mode distortion

So, I've got a Logitech X-540 5.1 set. They've got this nifty feature (matrix mode) which plays stereo audio from all the speakers. The other day, I noticed that when the volume being output from the speakers is too high, the audio just shits itself:

-The front speakers will remain silent, but the audio will patch in for just a moment every ~1.5-2 seconds, with the rear speakers doing the opposite

-Does this no matter what the input source

-Is entirely volume-dependant. It can be low volume on the source, high on the speakers, or the other way around, the problem only kicks in at some minimum volume

-Works fine in "regular" mode with stereo sources, don't have a 5.1 card on my laptop to test 5.1

-If I unplug all of the speakers, turn everything on, and connect the rear speakers first, the front ones second, then it'll work fine for a while

-All of the speakers are fine

-I've taken the board out, no sign of anything burnt or exploded.

    Any ideas?

under speaker properties, do you have any enhancements or dolby bass boost or anything enabled?

It behaves the same with an iPod, my phone, laptop, and tablet. To answer the question though, no :P

Doesn't want to stress the amp? Even still.

I have a g-35 headset that had virtually the same issue, just reinstall the drivers and you should be good?
