Re: cleaning keyboard
I kind of did that to my keyboard.
I pulled off all the keys, and scrubbed it down removing all the grime, mold, dried semen, and dust. I was careful not to get any water in holes where the keys pulls out, but I didn't notice that a bunch of water leaked in through the tiny openings where the top and bottom half of the keyboard snap together. So the inside got totally soaked and the keyboard wouldn't work.
After it dried out it works fine again, but it took a few days. I had to pull apart the keyboard completely, which was a huge pain in the ass since all the plastic covers that cause the bottom to make contact with the keyboard circuitry fall out. My keyboard was very frustrating to put back together. At least with my keyboard, which is just a generic cheap Windows keyboard, the circuitry inside is just two thin sheets of plastic (sort of looks like the paper you'd put on an overhead projector). So a small amount of water got trapped between those two sheets and that was causing the problem. I had to pull those apart and try to dry it as best I could. Even after I couldn't see any more water, I had to leave it open to let it air dry for about a day.
tl;dr - you can but you may have to pull the thing apart to get all the water out. And it will probably be a huge pain in the ass. I wouldn't do it unless I had a spare keyboard so at least you have something to use while it dries.
Why should I have to WORK for everything?! It's like saying I don't deserve it!
