I don't thing their reasons for raising the price are all that clear. Maybe they want people to buy the xbox version and switch it over, in hopes of keeping the xbox 360 platform going for a longer time. My Kinect came as part of a console package, so I actually lack the adapter to plug my kinect into my computer.

    Re: Kinect on PC

their explanation was the xbox version is subsidised by people buying xbox games to go with it. That revenue doesn't exist on the PC side. The dev kit is free, so MS might never see another penny out of you after you buy the kinect for windows.

Weren't there unofficial drivers/code floating around the net to use the xbox version of the Kinect on PC? If it's technically feasible to use the xbox version, what's stopping developers from doing so?

It's like DLC for everyday products. Why make something work the first time when you can make money now, and charge again later to make it work properly?
Why should I have to WORK for everything?! It's like saying I don't deserve it!
