    Megaupload Shut down

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16642369

Because the easiest way to stop pirated material is to nuke the entire company and say balls to the consequences( SOPA).

DOJ, MPAA, and RIAA sites were down for a while in retaliation.

MegaUpload had been getting shittier, lately.

Has anyone seen Rapidshare recently? They've really improved - I wouldn't even call them Rapidshit anymore.

Shit, now I need to make time to watch real tv :[ at least until the True Successor (a MU clone) shows up and saves us all. Megaupload seems pretty confident about weathering this storm though - they've got massive pockets to hire out legit lawyers after all, unlike the founders of NinjaVideo (in case you haven't been keeping up on that case, Phara was sentenced to 2 years in Federal Prison D: ). From the sounds of it they were constantly relying on their lawyers to keep them on juuuust the right side of the law so I'll be interested in seeing how this goes.

RS was ip banned by my old ISP, I haven't needed to use it since moving to my new place. My fav sharing site would have to be MediaFire. Downloading files from there always feels cleean, easy and fast. Uploading too.

Absolutely the advantage that Mediafire has.

I found MU/Icefilms clean easy and fast. Sometimes slow but usually filled my pipe.

I feel bad for all those university students who have torrents blocked or some shit due to the school's security, now it looks like their alternative (Megaupload) is gone.
I also feel bad for those using megaporn (now cum.com lulz!)
